Marvin Humes pays tribute to Liam Payne and sends his condolences to his former One Direction bandmates

As a fellow artist who has walked the same path as Liam Payne, I find myself deeply saddened by his untimely passing. The world of music has lost a shining star, and my heart goes out to Karen, Nicola, Ruth, Bear, and all those who knew and loved him.

Marvin Humes expressed appreciation for Liam Payne and offered sympathy to his ex-bandmates from One Direction.

On Wednesday evening around 5 pm, the singer plunged from the third level of CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, having just arrived to witness Niall Horan’s performance.

The 39-year-old DJ opened up about sharing some personal stories connected to his friendship with the deceased singer during his chat on Kiss Radio.

Previously from JLS, the singer shared with fans that he encountered Liam for the first time back in 2008 when he was only 14. He went on to say that learning about Liam’s untimely demise was heart-wrenching.

He said: ‘You probably know the very sad news that broke last night that Liam Payne from One Direction passed away.

I am deeply saddened on a personal level. I initially crossed paths with Liam when he was 14, performing in JLS during his X Factor audition. From that moment, there was an immediate connection between us, and we gladly mentored him.

‘And always joked that he was the fifth member of the band and we just got on so well.

Last year, things didn’t go his way, and I recall giving him a comforting hug and telling him, “You’re incredibly gifted, my friend. At just 14, your time will come. Keep trying!

After that, this is what he chose to do. For two years, he kept trying out again, and eventually, One Direction came into existence. From thereon, it’s all been part of history.

They ultimately became one of the most renowned bands ever, and I am incredibly proud of his accomplishments as well as those of the band members.

Incredibly disheartening news has surfaced. My deepest sympathies go out to Liam’s family, close friends, his partner Cheryl, and especially young Bear – his son. I also extend my condolences to his fellow members of One Direction.

‘Given they also mourn the loss of a sibling, it brings me solace to know Liam surpassed his expectations and lived out his dreams – more than he ever imagined. His remarkable career fills me with immense pride.’

In an unfortunate turn of events, I found myself in a situation where I tragically fell from a hotel balcony on the third floor. The impact left me with severe injuries that proved fatal instantly, and my skull was fractured beyond repair. Regrettably, the emergency services were unable to revive me at the scene.

In the year 2010, a star united with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles to create the boy band known as One Direction. This came about following separate auditions each of them had for the television show, The X Factor.

The team secured third position and later gained worldwide fame, known for popular songs like “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Live While We’re Young.

Following their rise as a globally acclaimed pop band, releasing five studio albums and embarking on four global tours, they decided to take an extended break in 2016.

Ever since I witnessed their meteoric rise to become one of the most iconic pop groups globally, with a string of five chart-topping albums and four electrifying world tours under their belt, it’s been a heartrending wait for news from them since they went on an indefinite break back in 2016. I can hardly contain my excitement to see what they have up their sleeves next!

In Argentina recently, Liam ran into his old band partner, Niall, who was performing at a concert he attended last week.

Emergency responders verified his identity using his passport, but the police have not yet found definitive proof about how he fell.

Alberto Crescenti, speaking on behalf of the city’s ambulance service, confirmed that Liam had fallen from a height of approximately 40 meters, resulting in injuries so severe that they proved fatal.

5:04 PM locally, an alarm went off indicating that someone was found unconscious on Casa Sur’s inner courtyard. By 5:11 PM, an ambulance had arrived, and unfortunately, the person was pronounced deceased.

Later on, we discovered that he was a renowned vocalist. Regrettably, the injuries sustained from his fall ultimately led to his demise. There was no hope for reviving him.

Marvin’s tribute is part of an outpouring of grief for the late singer form his former band mates. 

On Thursday, Harry Styles wrote an emotional tribute to his bandmate Liam Payne, expressing deep sadness over his passing at the young age of 31, stating that he is deeply saddened by this tragic loss.

After the band issued a shared statement not long ago, the vocalist, aged 30, subsequently posted an emotional message on Instagram, addressing his dear friend whom he characterized as being “full of warmth, support, and immense love.

On Wednesday at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Liam tragically passed away following a fall from the third floor, which stirred an outpouring of condolences and heartfelt tributes from admirers and celebrities alike.

Sharing a snap of Liam while on-stage, Harry wrote: ‘I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing.

His utmost delight stemmed from bringing joy to others, and it was a privilege to stand beside him during these moments of happiness.

‘Liam lived life open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious.

He was kind-hearted, nurturing, and exceptionally affectionate. Our shared time is engraved in the most valued memories of my existence. I’ll miss you eternally, dear friend.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I share the deep sorrow that many of us feel upon hearing about the passing of the remarkable individual known as Karen Geoff. Alongside Nicola, Ruth, and Bear, his son, I join the countless others worldwide who had the privilege of knowing and cherishing him. Our hearts are heavy with grief during this challenging time.

Following Louis Tomlinson, another member of One Direction, posting his emotional tribute to Liam, it was then his turn.

He said he was ‘beyond devastated’ by his friend’s death, and said that he will ‘always be an uncle’ for the late singer’s eight-year-old son Bear.

It’s with profound sadness that I find myself composing these words today. Regrettably, I have lost my brother, Liam, yesterday. He was an individual I admired each day, radiating positivity, humor, and kindness in every aspect of his being.

I initially crossed paths with Liam at age 16, while I was 18; from the get-go, I was captivated by his voice, yet it was later in our relationship that I discovered the caring sibling I had yearned for throughout my life.

Liam exhibited remarkable talent as a songwriter, possessing a keen ear for melodies. Frequently, we discussed reuniting in the recording studio with the aim of rekindling the creative synergy we developed within our band.

To set things straight, I firmly believe that Liam played an indispensable role in One Direction. His early years’ training, his uncanny ability to hit the right notes, his captivating stage presence, and his songwriting talent are just a few of his many strengths. The list continues, but to put it simply, Liam significantly molded our band. Thank you for shaping us, Liam.

“Liam, if you hear this: I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have known you, but letting go is proving extremely difficult for me.

I’m incredibly thankful that our bond has grown stronger since the formation of the band. Talking to you for hours on end, reflecting upon countless wonderful moments we shared, feels like an invaluable gift I believed would be a constant part of our relationship.

‘I would have loved to share the stage with you again but it wasn’t to be.

‘I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.

‘I wish I got chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you. Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother, I love you mate. Sleep well X.’ 

Louis recently posted a heartfelt message, accompanied by a picture from 2015 showing him and Liam performing together. This was before One Direction went on their break the next year.
