Marvel’s Ultimate Universe:10 Mind-Blowing Plot Holes Explained!

The latest iteration of their Universe, dubbed ‘Ultimate Universe‘, has been met with significant acclaim, and it’s widely debated that the current quality of the monthly releases, under this new universe’s name, surpasses that of the original Ultimate Universe from the early 2000s. Kickstarted by popular titles such as Ultimate Spider-Man, The Ultimates, Ultimate Black Panther, and Ultimate X-Men, and further enriched by subsequent additions like Ultimate Wolverine, fans are eagerly anticipating the direction this universe will take.

Despite the fact that some readers find the current Ultimate titles superior to other Marvel Comics releases, there are still points of confusion about how and why these stories are being presented as they are. However, the overwhelming success of the new Ultimate Universe is indisputable, with fans eagerly anticipating future installments.

The Bold New Vision for Mutants In the Ultimate Universe Is Full of All-New Faces

Peach Momoko’s daring reinvention of the X-Men in Ultimate X-Men comics has been praised by both critics and readers for its stunning artwork, chilling narratives, and intriguing expansion of lore. This series is exceptional with fully developed characters, yet some fans are puzzled as to why it lacks the well-known mutant superheroes that are usually associated with the X-Men.

In this series, you won’t find popular characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Beast, and Jean Grey. It appears they won’t be making an appearance anytime soon either. Momoko’s fresh perspective on Marvel’s mutants is delightful and a great fit for the Ultimate Universe. However, some fans are expressing their disappointment due to the absence of these familiar faces.

Ultimate Black Panther Explores the Bizarre Lore Behind the Mystical Metal

The Black Panther in the Ultimate Universe has been less consistent, making its storyline harder for fans to follow. The conflict between Wakanda and Moon Knight’s forces was engaging, but it seems to have taken a step back lately.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that the concept of delving deeper into the enigmatic essence of Vibranium isn’t inherently flawed. However, the way Ultimate Black Panther has muddied the waters and stripped away the captivating mysteries surrounding it has left many fans disheartened. Instead, Ultimate Black Panther could have been a standout title in today’s market, but to regain its potential, it needs to refocus and abandon bizarre narratives such as this one.

The Evil Version of Reed Should Know How Dangerous He Can Be

One notable character is The Maker, who bears an evil semblance to the leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards. He orchestrated the creation of a different universe, the Ultimate Universe, with the intent to rule and manipulate it. By preventing several individuals from acquiring superpowers, The Maker ensured that even the Fantastic Four never became superheroes.

Although the latest incarnation of Reed Richards lacks powers, his intellect is on par with that of a genius creator, making him a significant danger to everything that the malevolent Reed has constructed. The narrative in The Ultimates demonstrates the immense potential of Ultimate Reed, who has emerged as this universe’s equivalent of Doom, seemingly determined to overthrow the Maker and revert the world to its original state.

Spider-Man’s Son Richard Has Been Using His High-Tech Suit to Fight Alongside His Father

The current Marvel release, titled “Ultimate Spider-Man,” might just be their finest work right now, largely thanks to writer Jonathan Hickman’s exceptional emphasis on character development and emotional resonance. While the happenings in Ultimate Spider-Man can be startling, they are not solely intended for shock value. Instead, characters take center stage, making Peter Parker’s family struggles even more impactful.

In Peter’s absence, Richard, his son, secretly donned his father’s advanced suit and assumed the role of Spider-Man. Given that Richard is approximately the same age as Peter Parker was when he first took on the mantle of Spider-Man in the original Marvel Universe, it appears somewhat unrealistic that Peter would let his son take such risks, even with the protective capabilities of the suit.

The Multiversal Hero Was Previously Thought to Be a Singular Multiversal Entity

In recent decades, America Chavez debuted in the Ultimate Universe, making an appearance towards the end of The Ultimates #2. It was then revealed that she served as a sort of power source for the White House and its vicinity. Upon rescue, America became a member of the Ultimates, but there was one significant aspect of her character that left fans puzzled.

Initially, America was conceptualized as a unique entity residing beyond the multiverse, which meant there were no equivalents of her on any other dimensions. However, certain aspects of her character have evolved over time, leaving it ambiguous whether this interpretation of America falls under the 6160 Earth’s variant category or represents something different.

The Highly-Skilled Secret Agent Is a Plaything for The Maker’s Underlings

In the pages of “In,” it was unveiled that the Ultimate Universe’s Nick Fury, who holds the same position as director of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the mainline universe, harbored a secret fear that he was conspiring against The Maker’s council in an attempt to depose them and protect the world. However, a far more chilling truth surfaced.

It has been uncovered that Nick Fury is actually a Life Model Decoy (LMD), created by someone called The Maker, and the Council has been aware of his plan to overthrow them for some time. They seem to treat this as a recurring game, continuously replacing LMDs. However, what’s puzzling is the level of risk they’re taking. Nick Fury is an exceptionally talented spy, capable of devising plans that could potentially bypass the Council’s knowledge. Such a move might lead to their downfall. The Council appears overly confident, and this arrogance might be their undoing.

The Ultimate Versions of the Two Iconic Mutants Had Their Times Cut Short By Wolverine

Among Marvel’s collection of series, ‘Ultimate Wolverine’ stands out as the most brutally violent so far. Packed with intense action scenes, graphic violence, and deep emotional distress, this comic book is rapidly becoming one of the most captivating titles in Marvel’s entire Ultimate lineup.

In issue #3 of “Ultimate Wolverine,” the character known as Logan, also referred to as the Winter Soldier in the Ultimate Universe, is assigned a grim mission: tracking down and eliminating members of a mutant faction called “the Opposition.” This group is actively resisting the Maker’s council. When he reaches their hideout, Wolverine ruthlessly takes out two prominent members – Mystique and Nightcrawler – who could have potentially had captivating stories in the Ultimate Universe if they had been developed further.

Captain America’s Former Partner Is Now His Greatest Enemy

In this alternate reality I find myself in, Logan is the Winter Soldier hailing from the Ultimate Universe. The specifics about Bucky Barnes in this new world are still unclear to me, a gamer who’s been dropped into this story. You see, The Maker’s influence over our world didn’t start until some point later, so most heroes who existed before his manipulations remained relatively untouched. Case in point: Captain America and Bucky Barnes’ time during World War II remains remarkably similar to the main timeline we know from the comics.

It’s downright chilling and disheartening to find out that the Bucky Barnes of our universe, who fought alongside Captain America in World War II, appears to have transformed into an adversary – someone they had been battling against. In issue #10 of The Ultimates, Captain America confronts a gang of neo-Nazis led by a shadowy figure in a red helmet. But when the truth is revealed, it’s none other than Bucky Barnes, leaving both Cap and readers equally stunned and bewildered.

The Gods of Asgard Were Apparently Not Enough to Stop The Maker

Under the guidance of the cunning deity known as Loki, the trickster god, he ascended to the supreme position of authority in the nine realms, claiming the throne of Asgard. It was astonishing to many that such a formidable assembly of gods and goddesses could be subdued and dominated by Loki’s influence, even though the Maker was renowned for his immense power and wisdom.

Time after time, Asgard and other realms have demonstrated abilities beyond human understanding, no matter what. Given this, it was difficult for some readers to accept that The Maker could so easily destroy the realms’ splendor and autonomy.

The Ultimate Universe Proved That Not Everyone Has What It Takes to Be a Hero

A key feature of the latest Ultimate Universe is the concept that The Maker took away future possibilities from numerous individuals. Those who might have grown into heroes found themselves empty and incomplete, as if a vital part of their lives was missing. When Tony Stark, utilizing a time-travel apparatus, offered them an opportunity to reclaim their destinies, many chose not to.

In the Ultimate Universe, with exceptions such as Peter Parker and Luke Cage left out, most characters missed their opportunity to become heroes, a surprising development that left many readers in shock. Even beloved figures like Clint Barton were found to be ill-suited for their roles, which was a letdown for fans. Despite the Ultimate Universe’s distinctiveness from Earth-616, the pain of these characters choosing to abandon heroism still resonates with readers.
