Marvel Studios plans to continue emphasizing Loki by presenting another significant character following the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. Since Loki’s demise in “Avengers: Infinity War” and the resurrection of his Variant in “Avengers: Endgame”, Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki has played a crucial part in fleshing out the MCU’s multiverse backstory, as seen in his Disney+ series. This includes unveiling key concepts like the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the Void, and the Citadel at the End of Time.

In the finale of “Loki” Season 2, the Trickster God assumed the identity of the Marvel Universe’s Scribe of Stories, given his role in unifying numerous timelines scattered throughout the Multiverse. This transformation puts him on the roster of Marvel characters slated for a comeback in the 2026 film, “Avengers: Doomsday,” making him an essential figure as the Avengers prepare to confront Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Prior to the upcoming two Avengers films, Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus revealed insights about Nova’s role in the future narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He pointed out that Nova is as crucial for the next saga as Loki was for the Multiverse Saga.

Although it’s exciting news for Nova fans within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the full integration of this character seems to be taking a backseat at the moment. As reported by Deadline in February 2025, the development of three upcoming MCU series on Disney+ – Strange Academy, Terror, Inc., and Nova – has been temporarily halted.

Despite Marvel appointing Ed Bernero as showrunner for Nova in December 2024, the project has been put on hold, suggesting that its advancement might be delayed for a while. However, this recent update regarding the character’s future provides an optimistic outlook about his journey within the MCU.

Consequently, it seems plausible that Annihilus might be the primary antagonist of the next saga.

In the Marvel Universe, Annihilus is the sovereign of the Negative Zone, a realm teeming with antimatter that mirrors our own universe. This malevolent ruler has often caused chaos in the cosmic part of the Marvel world. A comic book event called “Annihilation,” penned by Keith Giffen and edited by Andy Schmidt in 2006, united various cosmic heroes to resist Annihilus’ tyranny.

Richard Rider played a crucial role in bringing together a group that would ultimately face off against Annihilus and stand against the Annihilation Wave.
