After the huge success of the musical *Wicked* last year, the new movie, *Wicked: For Good*, is generating a lot of excitement. Early reviews suggest it lives up to the hype, with one person calling it “marvellous” and “one of the best movies of the year.”
This musical-fantasy film picks up where the first one left off, following Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande). Elphaba, now known as the Wicked Witch of the West, remains dedicated to protecting animals and fighting for their rights.
With a strong cast featuring Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum, the movie is predicted to be a huge box office hit in 2025. Early reviews also suggest it could be a strong contender for awards.

Director Jon M. Chu’s latest film, *Wicked: For Good*, is a resounding success, working wonderfully on multiple levels. As *Deadline* noted in a recent interview with Chu, the movie is simply “gloriously, deliciously good.”
Some people believe this movie is even better than *Wicked* – more suspenseful and exciting. It’s a blend of romance, music, and thrills, and it really keeps you on the edge of your seat. In fact, *Wicked: For Good* is a significant improvement over the second half of the stage production.

Critics are calling this one of the best films of the year, praising it as a truly wonderful and much-needed work of art. One review summed it up by saying the film’s enjoyment is boundless.
The new movie will follow the stories of Elphaba and Glinda, and also bring Dorothy Gale into the world of Oz. They haven’t announced who will play Dorothy yet.
Erivo praised the choice to not reveal the actor’s identity, explaining, “It allows everyone to maintain their own personal image of Dorothy.”

Ariana Grande mentioned she enjoys the subtle complexity of Glinda’s character, particularly how Glinda seems a bit dismissive of Dorothy. Grande explained that Glinda appears busy and preoccupied, and could have easily helped Dorothy by suggesting she take the train to the Emerald City.
However, Glinda didn’t do that, which seemed a bit suspicious! The actress, an Academy Award winner for her work in the original movie, explained that she played up Glinda’s subtle annoyance with Dorothy whenever they interacted.
Wicked: For Good is released in cinemas on 21 November.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
