The upcoming Marvel Zombies series, showcased recently, introduces a fresh lineup of MCU heroes and villains who will transform into zombies on Disney+. This marks an R-rated venture, the first animated one for the MCU, where Marvel Zombies will feature some of the MCU’s most prominent figures in a spine-chilling tale revolving around the undead. The infected roster includes several characters, stirring anticipation among fans to witness a chilling reinterpretation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement after catching a sneak peek at seven undead characters set to grace our screens in the highly anticipated Marvel Zombies series on Disney+! This thrilling new offering promises to put a twisted spin on the classic Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) heroes as they band together to combat a global zombie outbreak. But
While Marvel Studios has been careful not to give everything away during their marketing blitz, there’s no doubt that more tantalizing tidbits are beginning to surface as the series approaches its premiere. So, keep your eyes peeled – this zombie-filled adventure is bound to be one for the books!
In a fresh turn of events, ComicBook posted a snapshot from the upcoming R-rated series featuring around six superheroes and villains potentially affected by the zombie plague. The swarm of the undead is posed before an unnamed structure, and eagle-eyed fans might recognize several famous Marvel Cinematic Universe personalities among this horde.

From left to right, the zombified MCU characters featured in this new photo are as follows:
- Clint Barton/Hawkeye
- Emil Blonsky/Abomination
- Nebula
- Okoye
- Monica Rambeau/Photon
- Ghost
- Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch
The upcoming Disney+ series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, titled “Marvel Zombies,” is a sequel or spin-off, originating from Season 1, Episode 5 of the 2021 show What If…?. This episode featured a storyline revolving around a zombie outbreak.
Ahead lies an exciting new chapter for Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova as they form a fresh Avengers team. This time around, the world is plagued by hordes of the undead, leading to a heartrending scenario where these superheroes must confront and defeat many of their once-familiar allies.
All four episodes of Marvel Zombies will debut on Disney+ on October 3, 2025.
What to Expect From Zombiefied MCU Characters in Marvel Zombies

In Marvel Zombies, a handful of exciting hero partnerships have been confirmed, but it’s the villains who are expected to shape the narrative most significantly. Fans are particularly intrigued by the anticipated changes in the zombie characters compared to their depiction in the fifth episode of What If…? from 2021.
Because the series has a TV-MA rating, Marvel can now explore darker and more intense territories than ever before. This means we might witness intensified action scenes with more graphic violence, possibly stronger language akin to an R-rating, and overall eerier visuals that surpass any animated MCU Disney+ show so far in terms of scariness.
Marvel has demonstrated a willingness to embrace such storytelling styles, as evident in shows like “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which didn’t shy away from graphic violence on both the big screen and TV. With the addition of zombies to this series, it remains to be seen just how far the visuals and narratives will push boundaries when Marvel’s most prominent heroes plunge into combat.
Although certain aspects of the plot and characters remain undisclosed, recently released images such as this one hint at Marvel potentially embarking on its boldest and riskiest tale yet.
