Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel (also known as Carol Danvers) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be sporting a familiar costume in her next film. After appearing in six Marvel projects with various looks, Captain Marvel is returning to a classic style she hasn’t worn since 2019.
The upcoming Disney+ series, *Marvel Zombies*, will include a zombified version of Captain Marvel. A new trailer offered a first look at the show’s characters, including Carol Danvers, and confirmed she’ll sport her recognizable mohawk – a look fans will remember from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the comics.

Although Captain Marvel appears only for a moment in the *Marvel Zombies* trailer, it’s a clear look at her unique mohawk. Her transformation into a zombie has also damaged her helmet, giving her a frightening new appearance.

Captain Marvel usually wears her helmet with a mohawk during fight scenes or whenever she’s flying in space. It made its first appearance in the 2019 movie, *Captain Marvel*.

Carol Danvers’ mohawk hairstyle gives her a fierce, warrior-like appearance, reminiscent of a Spartan. This look is often referred to as her ‘binary form’ and complements her incredible cosmic abilities.

Captain Marvel was depicted with Carol Danvers’ normal long blond hair when not wearing her helmet.

When Captain Marvel came out, fans loved the character’s mohawk hairstyle in the movie, as it was a popular look from the original Marvel comics.

In Marvel comics, Carol Danvers has sometimes been shown with a mohawk, even when she’s not wearing a helmet. However, Brie Larson’s portrayal of the character in the movies hasn’t featured this hairstyle yet.

I was really bummed when Captain Marvel’s awesome mohawk from her first movie in 2019 never showed up again, even though she’s been in a bunch of other Marvel films and shows since then. It was such a cool look, and I’d love to see it return!

Brie Larson reprised her role as Captain Marvel in the 2019 film *Avengers: Endgame*, joining the Avengers to battle Thanos. While she initially appeared with the long hair from her solo film, after the five-year time jump, Captain Marvel returned with a shorter, cropped hairstyle – a look inspired by the comics.

In *The Marvels*, Captain Marvel debuted a new hairstyle, moving away from the mohawk and helmet look she previously sported. Her hair had grown longer and was styled in a braid on one side.

Fans of Captain Marvel’s signature mohawk are in for a treat! The upcoming Disney+ animated series, *Marvel Zombies*, will bring back the iconic hairstyle after a six-year absence. All four episodes will be released simultaneously on September 24th.
Why Did Marvel Studios Ditch Captain Marvel’s Mohawk?
There’s a good reason why Captain Marvel hasn’t been seen with her signature mohawk since the first movie – it could be explained within the story itself.
In *Captain Marvel*, Carol Danvers becomes a Kree soldier, equipped with the same uniform and helmet as her teammates. Once she remembers her past and discovers the Kree have been deceiving her, she fights against them and defeats their leader, the Supreme Intelligence. This pivotal event directly leads into the storyline of *The Marvels*.
In *The Marvels*, Captain Marvel sports a fresh look with a new suit and hairstyle, ditching her previous mohawk and helmet. This change likely represents her taking control of her identity and distancing herself from her past with the Kree. Considering Captain Marvel’s conflict with the Kree, it makes sense she’d want to move away from the look she had while fighting alongside them as a Kree warrior.
In *The Marvels*, Captain Marvel resolved her conflict with the Kree people by restoring their sun. This act could allow her to embrace aspects of her history in upcoming stories, possibly even bringing back her iconic mohawk hairstyle.
Despite everything, fans will get to see Captain Marvel with her mohawk in *Marvel Zombies*, making her an even more fearsome villain as a zombie.
