Following Amanat’s point, the key question now is whether gaining complete control will strengthen him or reveal weaknesses in his rule, much like the power struggles seen in Westeros.

Matthew Lillard’s character, Mr. Charles, throws a wrench into things. He’s not a showy, over-the-top villain; instead, he’s calculating and works within the same criminal and political networks that Wilson Fisk now dominates.

Whether he’s facing off against Fisk’s hidden prison or taking advantage of the Mayor’s abuse of power, he’s moving beyond simply being an opponent to Daredevil and becoming a threat to the entire system.

The constant struggle for power, with rivals competing for control and influence, is why people compare it to Game of Thrones. It’s not a simple story of good versus evil, but a conflict between those in power and those trying to take it, between what’s shown to the world and the corruption hidden underneath.

Scarpane recently drew a parallel to Game of Thrones, explaining that the balance of power will change, and the story will conclude the Mayor Fisk arc in Season 2.

I really enjoyed when the show dipped its toes into the world of New York politics – it was like watching a real-life ‘Game of Thrones’! A More Serious Marvel TV Show

I keep hearing people say the new Daredevil: Born Again show is like Game of Thrones, mostly because of all the political stuff happening. But honestly, I think it’s more than that – it feels like Marvel on Disney+ is really trying something new and different with this one.

Because it’s designed for mature audiences, this series features a level of intense violence and psychological themes not typically found in other Marvel streaming shows. The action is more realistic and impactful, and the story feels much more dangerous, especially as Wilson Fisk uses the legal system to target masked heroes.
