Blade, the popular vampire hunter from Marvel comics, officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2025. While fans eagerly await his standalone movie, Marvel first introduced him in the animated series Marvel Zombies. This version of Blade, set within the larger MCU multiverse, has a unique take on the character.
Marvel Zombies is a series based on the Disney+ show What If…? which explores alternate versions of Marvel’s well-known heroes and villains. In Marvel Zombies, the character of Blade is reimagined as Blade Knight (voiced by Todd Williams), combining elements of his traditional vampire hunter persona with the character of Moon Knight, who was recently introduced in the Disney+ series Moon Knight.
In Marvel Zombies, Blade displays some new abilities and strengths we haven’t seen him use in other movies or shows. Although this version of Blade is different from the one we’ll see in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-616), it’s the first time the character has officially appeared in a Marvel Studios project. This happens through the Multiverse and comes before the upcoming solo Blade film starring Mahershala Ali, which is still being made.
Marvel Zombies Confirms Blade Knight’s Epic Powers
Superhuman Reflexes

In Marvel Zombies, Blade consistently demonstrates incredible reflexes, often anticipating events before they happen. For example, he senses an approaching enemy, warns Yelena Belova to duck, and immediately performs a flying kick – all without even looking to see what’s behind them.
These quick reactions continue to be a key part of the character’s abilities throughout the Marvel Zombies series, giving him a significant edge in fights.
Superhuman Strength

Like the Blade you see in comic books, he’s incredibly strong in Marvel Zombies. He uses this strength in fights, knocking enemies away with powerful punches and kicks. He’s also strong enough to easily swing his sword and block even the most forceful attacks while moving.
Sword Mastery

The famous sword of Blade is featured in Marvel Zombies, and the show highlights his skill with it, just like in the comics. A standout fight scene shows Blade facing off against a zombie version of Ghost, who tries to use teleportation to her advantage. However, Blade consistently intercepts her with his sword, ultimately defeating her with impressive speed and precision.
Crescent Blades

Blade Knight in Marvel Zombies clearly draws inspiration from Moon Knight, most notably through his use of crescent-shaped blades. These small, throwing blades are a signature weapon of the Egyptian hero Moon Knight and are stored within Blade Knight’s armor.
Costume Manipulation

While Moon Knight completely hides his face, Blade Knight doesn’t. However, Blade Knight can magically control parts of his costume. For example, in Marvel Zombies, he’s shown making his face mask and cape appear and disappear whenever he wants, proving he has supernatural control over what he wears.
Khonshu Summoning

As a huge Marvel fan, one of the coolest things about Moon Knight – and now Blade Knight too – is their connection to the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. Like in the Disney+ show, Khonshu isn’t just a statue; he’s a powerful, ever-changing spirit. It’s seriously awesome! In the Marvel Zombies comics, we see just how dramatic that can be – Khonshu bursts out of Blade as this massive, flaming, skeletal bird, and it’s incredibly intimidating to anyone who dares stand in their way.
