Marvel star confirms surprise MCU return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

In the upcoming fourth “Spider-Man” film, some well-known characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are expected to reappear, and one of the stars has offered a glimpse of their fresh appearance.

In the forthcoming sixth installment of the Spider-Man series titled “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start“, the character played by Michael Mando from “Better Call Saul” will take on the role of Mac Gargan, more commonly known as the Scorpion.

In the 2017 film, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” the character Mando was introduced as a criminal who got apprehended by the FBI. He swore revenge against Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in a mid-credits scene, where he was played opposite Adrian Toomes, portrayed by Michael Keaton.

Currently, the actor is set to take up the character of Mac once more, using his nickname “Scorpion.” He recently hinted at his scorpion tattoo on Instagram, as well as unveiling a brand-new green costume for this role.

In his latest post, Mando shared a selfie showcasing his neck tattoo, along with it he wrote, “Sting!” Additionally, he uploaded pictures of a Scorpion to his Instagram stories.

In addition to Mando, it appears that Peter will also get a fresh look for the fourth movie, hinted at by a social media post shared over the weekend.

Spectators swiftly noted that the two-tone red and blue costume bears a striking similarity to ones previously donned by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, well-known Spider-Man actors who shared an exciting reunion with Holland in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In the sequel titled Brand New Days, we find ourselves picking up where No Way Home left off. The enchantment by Doctor Strange, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, results in the world being oblivious to Spider-Man’s true identity and effectively wiping Peter Parker’s presence from the minds of those closest to him, such as his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and confidant Ned (Jacob Batalon).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 31 July, 2026.

The latest print issue from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25,” is now available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
