Marvel Rivals adds Thor and Jeff the Land Shark while sharing cinematic story trailer

As a long-time Marvel fan and avid gamer, I can’t contain my excitement for NetEase’s upcoming team-based shooter, Marvel Rivals! The recent developments at San Diego Comic-Con have only fueled my anticipation for this game.

The Marvel Rivals weekender at San Diego Comic-Con was filled with excitement as NetEase initiated the Closed Beta Test for their upcoming team-shooter game. In addition, they unveiled two fresh characters and showcased an engrossing cinematic story trailer.

As a passionate gamer, I’d love to share some exciting news with you all before we dive deeper into the topic. Firstly, let me bring up the fact that “Marvel Rivals” is an upcoming video game. This game stands out as a team-based shooter in the Marvel Universe, where teams of six players come together, bringing their favorite Marvel superheroes and villains to life. Imagine it as a blend between Blizzard’s “Overwatch” and the Marvel universe. Each team member has unique abilities that can turn the tide of battle. Can’t wait to see you all there!

To explain why so many superheroes and villains unite to clash against each other, even on intermingled teams, NetEase needs to create a unique Multiverse-based narrative. So, let’s extend a warm welcome to Doctor Doom.

In the multiverse collision brought about by the conflict between ruthless rulers, Doctor Doom of the present and Doctor Doom from the year 2099, numerous realities have intersected in the Timestream Entanglement. This cosmic clash has given birth to new worlds and introduced crises yet undiscovered.

In this intriguing storyline, heroes and villains hailing from various multiverse realms must now join forces and clash against each other as different factions strive to outdo the ominous Dooms. Previously known adversaries turn into unexpected enemies, while historic enemies transform into invaluable allies, in an exhilarating twist for Marvel Rivals!

NetEase not only unveiled a movie-like preview for the story, but also presented two freshly added playable characters: Thor, who is widely recognized, and Jeff the Land Shark.

Thor, the God of Thunder, is one of the most well-known Marvel characters to date.

Jeff the Land Shark is an unfamiliar character, introduced in West Coast Avengers Volume 3, Issue 6 (released in October 2018). He was brought to life by M.O.D.O.K., but once freed from his mad inventor, Jeff becomes a valuable member of the West Coast Avengers. Essentially, he forms a close bond with Gwenpool.

I’m a gamer, and let me tell you about this unique character I came across: Meet Jeff, the Land Shark. He’s not your typical shark swimming in the ocean. Instead, he’s got legs to roam the land and the incredible gift of breathing air like us humans. And oh boy, his teeth! They’re razor-sharp and ready to crush any opponent that crosses his path.

In the game “Marvel Rivals,” which is mainly a shooter, NetEas introduced ranged attacks for Jeff the Land Shark since he functions as a support character. His fundamental attack, named “Joyful Splash,” revitalizes his teammates. Additionally, his other attack, titled “Aqua Burst,” inflicts water damage from a distance. Furthermore, Jeff possesses intriguing abilities that emphasize his “shark” traits.

Currently, Thor and Jeff the Land Shark can be played in the ongoing Closed Beta Test for Marvel Rivals. The game’s launch date is yet to be announced, but there’s a chance it may still release this year. Marvel Rivals will support play on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
