Marvel reportedly reworks upcoming movie to include MCU legend

As a seasoned gamer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I have witnessed the evolution of characters from their humble beginnings to their epic transformations. The upcoming titles, “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Thunderbolts”, are highly anticipated additions to the franchise.

The ongoing story arc of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, known as the Multiverse Saga, is progressing steadily. However, in the near future, the narrative will shift towards more Earth-bound narratives within the franchise. Over the last three years, we’ve witnessed numerous multiverse-shaking events such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Loki, and even this year’s Deadpool and Wolverine. But for some forthcoming films, we’ll be revisiting the familiar world of the MCU.

Among the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) titles are “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Thunderbolts“. Both of these films will showcase some popular characters from the MCU franchise. “Captain America: Brave New World” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, who is now playing the role of Captain America following Steve Rogers’ departure. The movie focuses on Sam carrying on the legacy of his friend. In “Thunderbolts“, we will see familiar faces such as Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, US Agent, and Ghost from previous MCU films.

It appears as though one of the films might be undergoing some changes to incorporate a character who is a veteran from the other movie.

Bucky Barnes rumored to cameo in Captain America 4

Based on updates from Marvel sources like Marvel Updates and Exiled Scooper, it appears that the scenes for the movie “Captain America: Brave New World” are being reshot. These adjustments include incorporating a guest appearance by Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. Reportedly, these reshoots have been happening in recent weeks to ensure the film is polished before its planned release in February.

Although Marvel hasn’t officially announced a cameo for Bucky, it seems plausible based on several factors. Bucky was first introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) back in 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” and has since appeared in its two sequels (“The Winter Soldier” in 2014 and “Civil War” in 2016). If he were to miss this upcoming film, it would be the first MCU movie without his presence. Considering his strong connection to the Captain America role (and his bond with Steve Rogers), it wouldn’t feel quite right for him to be absent from the fourth installment of the series.

In “Brave New World,” a cameo by this character could have a greater significance than one might initially think. Previously, we saw him sharing the screen with Sam Wilson in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” They played supporting roles to Steve Rogers, each belonging to different periods of time. However, their dynamic was reminiscent of a natural duo – a bond that was further emphasized in the Disney Plus series. Though they didn’t start off as friends, they managed to overcome their differences and join forces against the Flag-Smashers. This alliance not only strengthened their professional relationship but also might have led to a deepening of their friendship.

It would make perfect sense for Sam and Bucky to appear together in a scene, as Sam has now embraced his destiny as a hero. This interaction not only strengthens their unexpected bond but also symbolizes a culmination for the entire Captain America series. Bucky, having known Steve Rogers better than anyone else, understands what it takes to be Captain America and recognizes that Sam is a deserving successor – this was evident in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”. For those who haven’t watched the Disney Plus series, witnessing their interaction in “Brave New World” will serve as the closure the Captain America franchise needs.

Additionally, it’s important to mention that aside from Captain America: Brave New World, there’s another sequel in the works for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Although this series continues Sam’s journey, the narratives of Bucky and John Walker will be further explored through Thunderbolts. This team, inspired by Marvel Comics, is expected to feature characters like Bucky, Walker, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and Sentry. They appear to collaborate against Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who was last seen recruiting Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Considering that “Thunderbolts” is set to release only three months following “Captain America: Brave New World,” it wouldn’t be unexpected if Bucky were to make an appearance in a post-credit scene of the former. Marvel Studios has a knack for setting up future films, and historically, they’ve used post-credit scenes to hint at the next installment. Nowadays, they often use these scenes to establish upcoming movies further down the line, but in this instance, it seems plausible that “Captain America 4” could be used to pave the way for “Thunderbolts,” given that both are essentially continuations of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

In movie theaters starting Valentine’s Day, 2025, you’ll find Captain America: A World of Courage. Three months after that, on May 2nd, 2025, Thunderbolts will also be released.
