Wolverine appears in the newest Avengers film, where he shares scenes with several interesting characters and sports a fantastic costume. Marvel Studios plans to relaunch the X-Men film series, which will include a new take on Wolverine after Hugh Jackman spent over twenty years portraying the character. However, fans shouldn’t expect Jackman to retire from the role completely.
Rumors are circulating that Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in the next Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, but neither Jackman nor Marvel Studios has confirmed these reports. Fans eager to see Wolverine team up with the Avengers sooner can check out the team’s newest project, which includes an unexpected cameo from Logan in a different format.
Marvel Has Revealed What New Avengers Special’s Wolverine Looks Like
LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails premiered on Disney+ on November 14, 2025. This animated two-part series follows Hawkeye as he works to rescue fellow Avengers – including Thor and the Hulk – from a scheme to control their minds. To succeed, Clint Barton teams up with some lesser-known Marvel heroes like Tigra and Black Cat.
Wolverine doesn’t have a major role in this story. He makes a brief appearance when Sabretooth attempts to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Sabretooth fails, and is thrown through a building by Thor, crashing into a card game where several other heroes are playing.
In the new Avengers special, Wolverine appears wearing his iconic yellow and blue X-Men outfit. Several other Marvel characters make brief appearances, including Nightcrawler, Gambit, Howard the Duck, The Thing, She-Hulk, and Demolition Man. Demolition Man previously headlined another Avengers special, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition, which debuted on Disney+ on October 18, 2024.
How The New Avengers Special’s Wolverine Compares To Other Versions Of The Marvel Hero?
Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine has become the most beloved version of the character in movies, comics, and more, ever since he first appeared in the 2000 film X-Men. He recently reprised the role in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which has broken records as the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. In the film, Jackman played multiple versions of Wolverine from across the multiverse, each with a costume inspired by the comics.
As a longtime fan, I was thrilled to see the main Wolverine in the MCU movie finally rock the classic yellow and blue X-Men suit – it’s exactly how he looks in the comics, and even showed up that way in the new LEGO Avengers series! The only real difference between the suit in the movie and the one in the Avengers special was that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine version went sleeveless once he put the cowl on. It was a cool detail!
