Marvel Officially Confirms Sandman’s Design For Spider-Man’s New Appearance

For Marvel fans who enjoyed Sandman in previous Spider-Man movies, there’s a new film coming out in 2026 featuring the character. In this release, Sandman will battle another one of Spider-Man’s iconic enemies, portrayed with a traditional look. Thomas Haden Church first played Sandman in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3, and he’ll be returning to the role in the upcoming film.

William Church provided the voice and appearance for Flint Marko, but couldn’t film his scenes for the Spider-Man movie due to COVID-19 restrictions. This meant Sandman mostly appeared as sand throughout the film. Though his future in live-action movies is uncertain, fans can still enjoy Sandman in an animated series.

Marvel Has Revealed What Spidey And His Amazing Friends Season 4’s Sandman Looks Like

Even though Spidey and his Amazing Friends is a Spider-Man cartoon for younger kids, it’s incredibly popular! In fact, it’s one of the few shows on Disney+ to reach over a billion hours of viewing. The series has already aired four seasons, and two more are planned.

This animated Marvel show is designed to introduce younger viewers to the world of Spider-Man, while also including other popular heroes and villains from across the Marvel universe. Characters like Captain America, Iron Man, and The Hulk will appear to team up with the main characters: Peter Parker as Spider-Man, Miles Morales as Spin, and Gwen Stacy as Ghost-Spider.

In the 2026 episode of Spidey and his Amazing Friends called “Sandman vs Hydro-Man,” the two villains battle it out. Sandman and Hydro-Man argue over who owns the beach and try to ruin each other’s fun. Throughout the Spidey and his Amazing Friends series, Sandman is known for his signature look: a striped green shirt, brown cargo pants, gloves, and boots with metallic details.

Although Sandman appeared mostly as sand in Spider-Man: No Way Home, one scene showed Thomas Haden Church as himself, using footage from Spider-Man 3. Interestingly, the shirt he wore in that scene – a green, striped one – is the same outfit the character is known for in the comics and also wears in season 4 of Spidey and his Amazing Friends.

The animated series features a Sandman with thinner stripes and brighter green coloring. The character’s design also feels updated compared to the movie version, thanks to more metallic details and a generally more armored appearance. Fans appreciate this as a modern and fitting take on the classic Sandman, and it works well within the Spider-Man series’ overall style.
