Marvel hints at plans for a second season of hit series reversing original plan not to renew the show
As a hardcore Marvel fan who’s been following the MCU since its inception, I must say, the news about Agatha All Along potentially returning for another season has me absolutely thrilled! It’s not every day we get to see such a delightful character like Agatha Harkness grace our screens again.
In terms of their live-action Disney+ original shows, Marvel Studios has experienced mixed results given the expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) into television. While there have certainly been a few missteps, overall, Marvel’s original series have generally been quite successful.
Although Marvel Studios’ shows have had great success and received positive feedback from viewers, they haven’t been quick to renew their series. In fact, only one live-action Disney+ show has been granted more than one season: Loki, which was given a second season, but it appears uncertain whether there will be a third.
Instead of announcing second seasons, Marvel Studios has chosen to label their shows as “limited series,” which was the case with several productions like WandaVision. This tactic paid off at the 2021 Emmys where it won three awards and garnered a record-breaking 23 nominations for a Marvel series – the most for any Marvel show to date.
Then there is Agatha All Along.
Initially, it appeared that “Agatha All Along” was intended as a standalone series within the MCU, with no plans for a second season. It was seen as the continuation of a three-part storyline, starting with “WandaVision,” and ending with Marvel’s Vision series. However, contrary to our expectations, it seems Marvel is now planning another season for this popular show!
Agatha All Along season 2 might actually happen
Although Marvel has not officially confirmed a renewal for Agatha All Along, it seems Marvel Studios may be hinting at potential future episodes through their decision to enter the show in comedy categories instead of limited series for the upcoming awards season. This is significant because, according to current rules, if a second season were not planned, the show would need to compete as a limited series.
According to Variety’s report, Marvel’s choice to classify “Agatha All Along” as a comedy rather than a limited series implies that a second season may be possible. In fact, it seems to hint that there are plans underway for at least one more season.
When it comes to submitting “Agatha All Along” as a comedy, Disney needed to either provide evidence of future seasons or make an official announcement, similar to what FX did when they submitted “Shogun” as a drama series. Interestingly, the limited series was later renewed for two more seasons after this submission process.
It appears quite likely that, as a devoted admirer, I can’t help but speculate that Disney recognized the phenomenal success of “Agatha All Along” and decided to expand its storyline by commissioning another season of the show instead of incorporating it into other Marvel projects. This strategy seems entirely logical to me.
It’s intriguing to note that not only the official WandaVision account, but also Joe Locke’s official account, have teased that there might be additional stories yet to unfold beyond the season finale, which was aired on October 30th.
Hmmm 👀

Warning Spoilers coming.
In the final episode, Billy locates a vessel for Tommy’s spirit, and the show concludes with Billy and Agatha Spirit setting off in search of Tommy. This ending suggests that the tale of Agatha All Along may not be fully concluded yet, implying there might be more story to unfold. Initially, it was speculated that this story would continue in another Marvel project, but now there’s a chance Marvel is planning to develop it further as part of a potential second season of Agatha All Along.
It seems wiser to continue exploring Billy and Agatha’s relationship in a second season of “Agatha All Along,” given that audiences are eager for more of their dynamic. Moreover, it fits the narrative better for them to search for Tommy and handle the repercussions together. Plus, who wouldn’t be thrilled to see Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke share the screen again?
Indeed, it’s essential to await an official announcement about whether Agatha All Along will have a season 2. However, based on current indications, it appears quite promising that the show may become the second Marvel series to be renewed for another season!
