Marvel fans “freaking out” about X-Men returns for Avengers: Doomsday

With each reveal of the star-studded lineup for the hotly anticipated film “Avengers: Doomsday“, eagle-eyed fans spotted an astonishing, unforeseen gathering in the making.
It’s been confirmed that several actors from the X-Men team will be reprising their roles. Among them are Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X; Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler; Ian McKellen as Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, better known as Magneto; Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy, the Beast; Rebecca Romijn as Mystique; and James Marsden as Scott Summers, or Cyclops. They are all set to return to the X-Men franchise.

The news set off a frenzy among Twitter users, as numerous individuals began discussing the possibility that the X-Men might be making a significant return, following some actors appearing briefly in 2016’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“THE OG XMEN ARE COMING BACK IM GETTING GOOSEBUMPS,” one person tweeted.
The X-Men are back on the silver screen once more… I’ve been hoping for days like these,” one fan posted, while another enthusiastically declared in capital letters: “THE ORIGINAL X-MEN ARE COMING BACK! SO EXCITED!” (or simply “OMG, all the original X-Men are returning!”)
“The X-men are coming back!! I’m freaking out rn!!” another fan shared.
There’s still no definite answer about whether Hugh Jackman will once again play the character of Logan/Wolverine, or if Halle Berry will return to her role as Ororo Munroe/Storm.
Previously, the original X-Men cast from 20th Century Fox assembled on the big screen as recently as 2006 in X-Men: The Last Stand. However, several members of this talented team have openly expressed their interest in reprising their roles within the superhero universe.
Romijn was asked by Screen Rant back in 2022 if she’d reprise her role as Mystique.
The actress who was once known for her role in “Ugly Betty” stated: “Indeed, definitely! I’m not sure if they’d have me back, but I adored portraying that character. I cherished the cast immensely. It was a truly remarkable journey. Certainly, I would consider it again. Absolutely.
Additionally, Stewart mentioned the possibility of reprising his role in 2023, following the last time we saw his character leading the Illuminati in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.
Secret Wars” during an interview with Etalk, saying, “Hugh Jackman and I considered ‘Logan’ as our final film because my character died in it. However, I’ve been informed that I’ve supposedly died multiple times before. Keep that in mind, and you might just get lucky.
He added: “It is a possibility.”
Lately, there’s been a lot of buzz about the upcoming revival of the X-Men team, as Marvel Studios has officially announced plans for a brand new X-Men film.
In the previous year, significant news surfaced as Deadline announced discussions were ongoing regarding Michael Lesslie penning the screenplay.
Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
