Marvel fans excited by “scary” villain reveal in new Thunderbolts* trailer
Marvel has released the latest trailer for Thunderbolts* online following its Super Bowl premiere.
The next Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, number 36, deviates from the traditional Avengers setup by pairing together a group of characters often perceived as outdated or morally ambiguous anti-heroes.
The reworked version of Starship’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ introduces us to a motley crew consisting of Yelena, Bucky, US Agent, Red Guardian, Ghost, and Taskmaster. Despite being assembled by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, it’s questionable whether they can unite effectively against the world-threatening villains or if their incompatibility will ultimately be their downfall.
Additionally, let’s talk about the antagonist. The trailer offers brief peeks at the formidable power held by the primary villain, Sentry, who is also recognized as The Void.
A shadowy veil descends upon the city, causing structures to crumble, and with a swift gesture, it appears as if people transform into shadows or mounds of ashen humanity, merging into the ground beneath them.
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) on Reddit are thrilled by the depiction of Sentry’s abilities, and one user remarked that the destructive power of The Void is truly terrifying.
Indeed, it has an intriguing, stylish vibe to it. Not much detail is provided, yet there’s an impression of immense superiority over others, and that’s quite impressive. This sentiment was shared by another person as well.
A different spectator commented: “Completely swallowing people whole instead of dissolving or exploding them. It leaves them in utter darkness. This method, though it skirts around an R-rating and seems like mass murder, is genuinely terrifying to contemplate.
Others compared what Sentry can do to the “Thanos snap on a smaller scale”.
Is there any truth to the speculation that either Red Guardian or Taskmaster could meet their end in the movie, or is this mere conjecture?
Thunderbolts* is released in cinemas on May 2, 2025.
