Marvel Cinematic Universe spoilers follow.
Okay, so as a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been diving deep into the Avengers: Doomsday trailers, and I think I’ve spotted something really interesting! It looks like there might be hidden codes actually in the footage itself. Seriously, the MCU is already so complex, but this could take things to a whole new level!
Short video clips featuring Captain America, Thor, the X-Men, and characters from Wakanda were shown only in movie theaters before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. After the clips were released, directors The Russo Brothers encouraged viewers to watch closely, hinting that they contained stories and important clues.

The posts you’ve seen over the past four weeks aren’t just previews – they’re actually parts of a larger story, offering hints about what’s to come. Keep a close watch! #DoomsdayHasBegun
A sharp-eyed fan shared a theory online, on Reddit, after figuring out a hidden pattern in the movie’s trailers, just before the film comes out in December.
They explained that the events of ‘Doomsday’ happened because of the Avengers’ time travel. All the evidence shows that when the Avengers altered time, it caused the damage to the multiverse that Doctor Doom is now trying to fix – or control.

At the very end of each short teaser, timestamps appear for a moment before being replaced by countdowns to the movie’s release. One teaser, focused on Steve Rogers, briefly shows the code “1e:24ber:02020”, and a fan thinks this might be a timestamp from the movie Avengers: Endgame.
They specified the time as 1:24:20. The setting is the roof of the Sanctum Sanctorum, where Bruce Banner (in his Hulk form) is talking to the Ancient One during the Time Heist.
The Ancient One explained to Bruce Wayne that taking an Infinity Stone from its timeline creates a new, potentially dangerous reality filled with hardship. This reinforces that Steve Rogers’ quest to put the stones back – and his choice to remain in the past – is crucial to the story. It hints that his actions might have unintentionally started a larger, catastrophic event.
The post then explains the final three codes – 1e:17ber:02020, 1e:11ber:02020, and 1e:04ber:02020 – and their related timestamps in the movie Endgame. It clarifies how each code is important to the Time Heist.

Not everyone on Reddit agreed with the idea. One user pointed out that the codes consistently featured three specific elements – ‘02020’, ‘1e’, and ‘ber’ – and doubted the theory involved timestamps. They argued that if timestamps were being used, they wouldn’t all fall on the exact same second.
One person thought the first two suggestions were perfect, but felt the other two didn’t quite fit and maybe referred to different films. Another disagreed, arguing that meaning could be found in any timestamp and questioning why everyone assumed ‘02020’ represented twenty seconds.
Could the original poster be onto something, or is the true meaning yet to be revealed?
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 18 December.
