Marvel "confirms" original Disney Plus show will return for second season

As a seasoned gamer and long-time Marvel fanatic, I can confidently say that the recent developments regarding Hawkeye’s potential return have sent shockwaves through the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) community. Having binged every single MCU series available on Disney Plus, I must admit that Hawkeye was one of my personal favorites. The blend of action, humor, and heartfelt moments made it an instant classic in my book.

For the past 16 years, Marvel Studios has been ruling the big screen. Over the last four years, they’ve also ventured into television storytelling, thanks to Disney Plus. In this span, Kevin Feige and the Marvel team have churned out hit shows like the Emmy-winning “WandaVision”, followed by “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, “Loki”, “What If…?”, and “Hawkeye”. These shows marked a phenomenal first year of TV content from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since then, there have been a mix of successes and failures, not only on television screens, but also in real life. Some shows didn’t capture audience interest like their predecessors did, leading Marvel to consider changes in its release strategy. Rumors suggest that the studio might extend the lifespan of certain shows initially planned as limited series (and possibly even cancel others).

Following numerous whispers regarding a specific series, Marvel has unveiled news that has spectators believing these speculations could indeed be valid. Is it possible that one of the original Marvel Cinematic Universe shows is poised for a revival?

Marvel may have just confirmed Hawkeye season 2

As a dedicated gamer (and Marvel fan), I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing the latest news! Marvel Studios has just announced that both the first season of Hawkeye and Loki’s second season are set to be released on 4K UHD discs, with Hawkeye being labeled as “Hawkeye: The Complete First Season”. Now, this has sparked a flurry of speculation among fans like me, leading us to believe that the long-awaited second season might indeed be in the works!

It’s interesting to note this, as the launch of WandaVision was advertised as ‘The Complete Series’. If Marvel didn’t intend to produce another season of Hawkeye, you might expect it would be billed similarly. However, the term ‘The Complete First Season’ is proudly displayed on the stunning SteelBook case art instead, suggesting that we may yet see more adventures of Hawkeye, evoking a sense of a classic Christmas special.

Previously, whispers emerged suggesting that a new season of the series was underway. This revelation took fans by surprise since Hawkeye, originally designed as a miniseries, had proven successful in wrapping up Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton’s storyline while simultaneously introducing Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop as his potential successor. The conclusion was fulfilling, leaving room for future stories within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (like the return of Maya Lopez and Wilson Fisk in spinoff series Echo, and Kate Bishop’s future role in the Young Avengers).

Despite all that we’ve discussed, there’s still much potential for a second outing featuring Kate Bishop. The audience adored her character and the buddy-comedy feel of Hawkeye, which contributed significantly to its status as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most delightful surprises. It was a success, and this type of storytelling is commonly effective on network television. Given this, it seems logical that Marvel could successfully translate it to streaming TV as well.

It’s plausible that Hawkeye, being less costly to produce compared to series like Loki or Secret Invasion, could be a project Marvel might reconsider for another season. However, it’s still uncertain if this will actually happen. Interestingly, Moon Knight is another title that’s been rumored to return for a second season, with its 4K UHD release labeled as ‘The Complete First Season’. Since Loki was also marketed the same way (we knew a second season was in the works), this lends credence to speculations that these shows could potentially resurface soon.

Fans can hardly contain their excitement, with anticipation running high for any word from Marvel Studios. However, if we go by their current mindset, the announcement of the Hawkeye season 1 seems almost like confirmation enough. Could it be time for them to re-string their bows? Definitely a possibility!
