Marvel Teases New Hero’s Brutal Powers Are On A Level of Their Own
A preview of Avengers: Armageddon #3 features an interview with writer Zdarsky about the exciting debut of Colton. While Colton showed his strength fighting Red Hulk, it seems his powers are developing in a direction that clashes with what the Avengers believe is right.
Zdarsky explained the intense fight between Colton and Red Hulk was meant to establish Colton as a powerful new force. He added that, given the characters’ shared history, he’d been planning this confrontation for some time.
The team is split on how to deal with Colton’s incredible abilities, as Zdarsky pointed out. He explained that Bucky, having experienced hardship as a soldier, a manipulated individual, and someone willing to do anything to protect the world, might see a connection with Colton. However, the other heroes view Colton as a powerful soldier making reckless choices they wouldn’t.
The latest issue ended with Iron Man discovering Red Hulk’s hidden base and a device that can predict the future. Now that the world has abandoned the Avengers, things look incredibly bleak. Writer Al Ewing stated it will be “Armageddon,” suggesting even greater dangers are coming.
Regarding Colton’s future within the Marvel Universe while the Armageddon event unfolds, writer Zdarsky has hinted that the character isn’t leaving. He stated, “He’ll definitely still be around in some capacity, but I can’t reveal exactly what that will be just yet.”
The Avengers Will Face Total Ruin in Armageddon
Zdarsky isn’t sharing which Avengers will survive upcoming events, but Marvel is hinting at what’s next for these heroes. When asked about the challenges he creates for the team, Zdarsky joked, “I give them nice things!” He then teased an exciting development this fall, calling it “nice!”
Writer Al Ewing is talking about the new Avengers #1 series, nicknamed ‘Earth’s Mightiest Survivors.’ The story will feature Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and a brand-new character as they form a team after a massive disaster.
