Marvel bringing back two former MCU stars in Vision Quest

As a gamer who’s been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than a decade now, let me tell you, the news about James D’Arcy and Kerry Condon reprising their roles in Vision Quest has sent shockwaves through my gaming realm. It feels like coming full circle, doesn’t it?

Three years after its debut, the influence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series “WandaVision” is still palpable. This groundbreaking show elevated Elizabeth Olsen’s and Paul Bettany’s characters, Wanda Maximoff and Vision, to new heights, providing them with a level of attention they had not experienced in earlier MCU films. Moreover, “WandaVision” left an indelible mark on the franchise as a whole.

Wanda transformed into the Scarlet Witch and furthered her journey in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, while Vision was reborn as White Vision (following his demise in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’). Later, White Vision encountered the Westview Vision who had been magically revived. As a result, White Vision regained all his memories. The narrative of WandaVision extends beyond its Disney Plus series, with ‘Agatha All Along’ reintroducing Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness and ‘Vision Quest’ set to return Paul Bettany as the White Vision.

The initial spinoff is currently available for streaming, whereas the second one is preparing for imminent filming. A recent update reveals that the second spinoff will reintroduce some beloved characters – more accurately, their voices – back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

James D’Arcy and Kerry Condon to reportedly appear in Vision Quest

As per Marvel tipster MyTimeToShineHello, actress Kerry Condon and actor James D’Arcy are set to come back for the Marvel Studios series and re-take their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the forthcoming “Vision Quest” on Disney Plus.

Condon voiced the AI known as F.R.I.D.A.Y. that Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, used after Avengers: Age of Ultron. She became a regular of his adventures, guiding him in his ear with directions and updates about the status of the armor, which was a tall task as she had to replace J.A.R.V.I.S., who had bonded with the Mind Stone to form Vision. In Vision Quest, however, Condon will reportedly appear as F.R.I.D.A.Y. in human form for the first time.

In relation to Jarvis, it’s James D’Arcy who has been recognized by Marvel Cinematic Universe fans for playing the role of Mr. Jarvis in the ABC series “Agent Carter.” Throughout the show’s two seasons, he stood beside and collaborated with Agent Peggy Carter. Originally named Edwin, this character was Howard Stark’s butler, and he was devoted to vindicating his friend and supporting him any way possible – even taking part in risky missions alongside Agent Carter.

Although it’s unclear if “Agent Carter” directly aligns with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline due to conflicting factors like its similarity to the original “Agent Carter” one-shot and the apparent disregard of earlier MCU shows in the latest Disney Plus series, the character was officially integrated into the canon when D’Arcy reappeared as Mr. Jarvis in “Avengers: Endgame,” where he served as the butler for an older Howard Stark.

Reflecting on the past roles of Condon and D’Arcy within the Marvel universe, it becomes evident why they were chosen for Vision Quest. Mr. Jarvis’ unwavering devotion to Howard Stark served as the blueprint for Tony Stark developing the artificial intelligence known as J.A.R.V.I.S., which later transformed into the android Vision. F.R.I.D.A.Y. then took over as Tony Stark’s new faithful and efficient AI. As White Vision ponders his existence without the influence of the Mind Stone, he may uncover more about his origin, the person who initiated his creation, and the one who followed in his footsteps within his previous role.

The intrigue surrounding “Vision Quest” is growing; with recent news and whispers about Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as the Scarlet Witch, this series seems increasingly captivating each day. Fingers crossed that all these rumors prove accurate.
