49-year-old actress who was once on EastEnders and her 69-year-old author mother were previously very close, but in a recent emotional interview, Jenny revealed that she distanced herself from her daughter after experiencing an emotional collapse following the death of her brother Laurence John (also known as LJ) in 2022.

Expressing her deep longing due to the emotional gap with Martine, Jenny openly acknowledged that she misses her daughter intensely, a yearning that feels like a physical ache. Now, she extends an apology for the lost connection.

To OK! magazine, Jenny explained: “After losing LJ, I found myself withdrawing. My heartbreak was so immense that I struggled to communicate with Martine. There wasn’t a major argument – in fact, Martine attempted to reach out to me for months, but I chose not to respond. Martine was also dealing with her grief and needed my support as well. I long to express my apologies. The void left by her absence is deeply felt – it’s like a physical pain.

In my role as a lifestyle advisor, let me share a personal reflection: ‘I chose not to reach out to Martine; instead, I distanced myself. Overwhelmed by my own emotional turmoil, I neglected the needs of my other child. That moment marked the beginning, and events spiraled from there. Now we find ourselves in this situation.’

Jenny shared that back in October, there was a brief interaction between them as Martine unexpectedly texted her asking for a favor on behalf of her husband, Alan. However, she confessed that the encounter felt uncomfortable, carrying a tense and weighty vibe.

Although they had discussed the possibility of meeting during Christmas, no action was taken, and their connection has been quiet since then. Jenny’s efforts to reconnect have been unsuccessful.

Jenny empathized with the pain felt by David and Victoria Beckham upon their separation from their eldest son Brooklyn, expressing that it is deeply distressing to experience estrangement or loss of a child.

The author of “Behind Closed Doors” later reminisced about LJ’s unexpected demise due to acute ischemic heart disease and diabetes in 2002, a loss that left her heartbroken. In the aftermath, it was Martine who offered solace to her grief-stricken mother.

Nevertheless, Jenny remembered descending into a profound, gloomy abyss which eventually resulted in her being evaluated by a psychological care team. Subsequently, overwhelmed by her sorrow, Jenny distanced herself from her daughter.

Apart from mourning the loss of Martine, she admitted that the separation from her 10-year-old grandson Rafferty feels like enduring another loss, comparable to experiencing another death.

More recently, she attempted to apologize by visiting the home of the Love Actually actor in Surrey. She knocked loudly on the door and called out his name, but there was no response.

Jenny expressed that she felt compelled to conduct the interview as a means to reach out to Martine once more. She also mentioned that every day brings thoughts of her cherished daughter.

‘She said, “I won’t ever stop making efforts for my daughter, and if I could talk to Martine now, I would express my deep regret. Losing one child is too much; I don’t want to experience that loss again.”‘

Jenny’s communication to Martine arrives during a challenging period, as her daughter has recently been declared bankrupt – a hardship that follows closely on the heels of her divorce, as reported by TopMob.

Public documents show that the actress submitted a request for bankruptcy due to an outstanding loan from a financial institution.

After her highly visible divorce from Jack McManus, Martine encountered significant financial difficulties, as they both have a ten-year-old son together.

In 2012, I was fortunate enough to be part of an extravagant wedding by the shores of Lake Como, Italy. Fast-forward to the end of last year, and I found myself navigating the complexities of a separation, a decision that wasn’t made lightly.

Two months following the sale of their shared five-bedroom detached house in Surrey for £1,355,000, Martine and musician Jack, aged 42, parted ways, and her bankruptcy was declared.

The bankruptcy decree was issued under her married name, Martine McManus, even though she had legally ended her marital status prior to that point.

The County Court in Guildford, Surrey released a decree in March, after a request from LDF Finance (a certain company) who claimed she was indebted to them, though the exact amount wasn’t stated.

Besides the marital separation, another significant financial setback followed swiftly: Raven Music Ltd, her company, was recently dissolved a month ago upon HMRC’s petition for non-payment of taxes, as we have discovered.

In simpler terms, the latest financial reports of the company show that they owe over £175,000 in taxes, which is due within a year following February 2022.

It remains undisclosed how much Martine owes in personal taxes, and there’s uncertainty about whether the Official Receiver will conduct a thorough examination of her bankruptcy, potentially making her financial situation publicly known.
