Martin Scorsese & Netflix Set New Las Vegas Casino Series 30 Years After His $116M Movie

He’s developing a new Netflix series set in Las Vegas, and it’s not related to his 1995 film Casino. Netflix has ordered eight episodes, and Brian Koppelman and David Levien – known for Ocean’s 13, Rounders, and Billions – will be the showrunners and executive producers.

Martin Scorsese will also executive produce a new, currently unnamed drama about gambling through his production company, Sikelia Productions. Julie and Rick Yorn of Expanded Media, Paul Schiff of Best Available (from Koppelman and Levien), and Beth Schacter will also executive produce, with Kerry Orent serving as co-executive producer. Casting for the lead role hasn’t been announced yet, but the show’s premise is as follows:

This drama series takes place in the fast-paced, competitive world of modern Las Vegas casinos – a city that still holds a legendary, and often risky, allure. The story revolves around Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the president of the city’s most popular hotel and casino, as he navigates high-stakes challenges to maintain his power and expand his influence.

As a huge film fan, I always think of Martin Scorsese as one of the greats – especially when it comes to crime movies. Films like Taxi Driver, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Irishman, and now Killers of the Flower Moon are just iconic. But it’s easy to forget he’s also done amazing work on TV. He’s been an executive producer and director on shows like Boardwalk Empire and Vinyl, and they’re both really well-made and compelling.

Martin Scorsese is producing the new Apple TV series, Cape Fear, and also created the 2021 documentary series Pretend It’s a City, which is all about New York City.
