Martin Quinn Wraps Filming As Scotty In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Martin Quinn, known for his role as Lieutenant Montgomery Scott (Scotty), has finished filming his scenes for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Production on the fifth and final season of the show is almost complete in Toronto, and is expected to wrap up before the holidays.

Paramount+ has renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a fifth and final season consisting of six episodes. This announcement was made when season 3 premiered in June 2025. Season 4 finished filming last summer and is scheduled to launch on Paramount+ in 2026, followed by the concluding season in 2027.

Martin Quinn announced the end of his role as Scotty on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds with a playful post on his Instagram Stories. He shared a photo of his trailer door, set to the song “Scotty Doesn’t Know” from the movie Eurotrip, and wrote “That’s a wrap on Scot-man” followed by “See ye round Scot-man…. Mascotman.” You can see his post below.

Martin Quinn has joined the main cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. He first appeared as Scotty in a surprise cameo during the season 2 finale. For season 3, Quinn has been promoted to a series regular, while Carol Kane will return as a recurring guest star, playing Scotty’s boss, Chief Engineer Commander Pelia.

Before Martin Quinn brilliantly became the Scotty we all know and love as Chief Engineer on the original Star Trek, he was a younger Lieutenant still figuring things out. It’s fun seeing how he’s developing that reputation as a bit of a “miracle worker” – and clearly enjoying a good Scotch! The nickname “Mascotman” is perfect, honestly. It really captures how he brings a hilarious, lighthearted energy as a supporting character to the rest of the crew on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Martin Quinn is the third actor to portray Scotty in Star Trek. James Doohan first played the character in Star Trek: The Original Series, and Simon Pegg took on the role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films. Notably, Quinn is the first actor to play Scotty who is actually from Scotland.

With filming for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds wrapping up, Martin Quinn joins Christina Chong and Celia Rose Gooding in finishing their five-year roles on the Starship Enterprise. Fans can expect to see Scotty return in seasons four and five of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, continuing his journey toward becoming the Enterprise’s Chief Engineer.
