Martin Kemp’s mortified son Roman cringes in hilarious posts after I’m A Celebrity star spoke about sex positions and ‘wheelbarrowing’ wife Shirley in a VERY racy jungle chat

Roman Kemp has been publicly and enthusiastically supporting his father, Martin, as he competes on the show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’

But the TV and radio star has been left mortified by his dad’s latest camp antics.

On Sunday night’s episode of the ITV show, Martin shared a very personal story with the group, detailing the sex position he and his wife, Shirlie Holliman (Roman’s mother), used when they were trying to conceive.

Martin shared with his fellow celebrities on camp that he and Shirlie had been trying for a baby before their wedding, but faced difficulties due to Shirlie’s endometriosis.

He remembered a surprisingly explicit question Shirlie’s mother once asked them while they were visiting. She’d asked, ‘So, have you tried the wheelbarrow?’

Martin stood up and showed everyone how to do it, which made the campmates burst into laughter when Ruby Wax gave it a try. However, Roman, watching from home, didn’t find it funny.

The 32-year-old presenter expressed his shock on X (formerly Twitter), posting a meme of Homer Simpson hurting his eyes with bleach and the caption: ‘My dad’s talking about… that… with my mum… #ImACeleb.’ He then followed up with, ‘Seriously though, what is going on?’

When Martin joined the jungle, Roman, who was on the show in 2019, playfully teased him on social media. He joked that Martin was only there because his son is a presenter on ‘The One Show,’ suggesting he benefited from family connections.

During Sunday night’s show, 64-year-old Martin Kemp, known from Spandau Ballet, revealed some private details about his 1988 wedding to Shirley Lewis, the singer from Pepsi & Shirlie, who is 63.

You know, things got really personal around the campfire recently! I was chatting with Lisa Riley, Martin, and Tom Read Wilson, and I was sharing a bit about my life with Spencer. We’ve actually been married for eight wonderful years now, and it’s always lovely to reflect on that journey with friends.

But Martin had her beat, as he revealed he and Shirlie been married for coming up to four decades.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe how he described his wedding! He said he got married in St. Lucia – can you even imagine? – right on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. And get this, it was super intimate, just him and three other people! Seriously, it sounds like a dream. I’m totally obsessed with everything about it!

He joked the ceremony was so basic ‘if you looked into it more you’d find we’re not married!’

As someone who’s spent years observing what makes relationships truly last, I always come back to one thing: friendship. I recently heard Martin Kemp share the secret to his incredibly enduring marriage with Shirlie, and it really resonated with me. He said, and I quote, ‘Shirlie is everything for me, everything I do in my life, I do it for her.’ It’s beautiful, isn’t it? It’s a reminder that beyond the romance, a deep friendship is the foundation of a truly lasting partnership. It’s about wanting the best for your partner, always.

Martin and Shirlie first met in the 1980s. Martin spotted Shirlie in 1982 while she was performing on Top of the Pops as one half of the backing duo Pepsi & Shirlie for the band Wham!

They shared that George Michael was the one who introduced them, essentially playing matchmaker.

In a 2019 interview with the Daily Mail, Martin recalled first seeing Shirlie perform with Wham! on Top Of The Pops. He said he was immediately struck by her beauty and couldn’t look away.

I ran into her at a special movie preview a couple of weeks later. I gave her my phone number, but I didn’t hear back from her for three weeks.

Oh my gosh, it’s just… she was explaining herself, and it was so relatable! She said it wasn’t that she didn’t want to call him, it was just… he was a HUGE pop star! And she was terrified he’d be, like, a real pop star, you know? All demanding and stuff. And honestly? She admitted he was just incredibly good-looking, and I totally get it! It was the whole package, and it intimidated her, and it’s just… swoon… I mean, who wouldn’t be a little scared?

She explained that George was the one who eventually got her number and made the call. He told her he’d been at someone’s house and they kept asking if she was going to call. Apparently, this person was a huge fan of the band Spandau Ballet. George then called the number and handed the phone to her.

Martin’s mom picked up the phone, and I asked if he was available. She wanted to know who was calling, and I felt really embarrassed – I figured she probably got a lot of calls from girls interested in him.

He answered the phone and immediately said how glad he was that I’d called. He sounded genuinely pleased, and that seemed to be the end of it.

Shirlie unexpectedly brought her friend George Michael along on their first date, much to Martin’s dismay. As Martin recalled, he spotted them on Camden High Street and felt disheartened, and they spent the whole evening attempting to avoid George.

I was so surprised to hear that even George wasn’t keen on being the third wheel! Shirlie told me he actually said, “I didn’t know you’d be snogging all night!” It just shows you never really know what people are thinking, even those closest to you.
