Known for his striking blue eyes and a fashion sense that blurred traditional gender lines, he was a major teen idol during the New Romantic movement.
Recently, Martin Kemp has become a popular TV personality and DJ, balancing gigs across the UK with appearances on shows like Celebrity Gogglebox and The Masked Singer.
The 64-year-old is heading to Australia to compete on this year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ and will be well-compensated for his appearance.
But it seems Martin has left a lot of disappointed fans and club promoters in his wake.
Despite claiming on October 24th to his 573,000 Instagram followers that all shows were still happening, he has actually delayed a number of dates on his Back to the 80s Tour.
Sources say Martin unexpectedly canceled his nightclub appearances, leaving organizers in a difficult position. They had to quickly find replacements and are now facing financial losses due to the travel and lodging they already paid for him.

Fubar, a nightclub in Stirling, Scotland, announced on Instagram that Martin has cancelled his scheduled appearance on Saturday, November 8th.
According to a source, the club had already spent a significant amount of money on Martin’s hotel and transportation, in addition to his agreed-upon fee. They were understandably upset when he cancelled his appearance at the last minute.
The statement suggested a big television job was the reason for their absence, which fueled speculation about a possible appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’
Just a quick update for you all – unfortunately, Martin Kemp won’t be able to make it to our event this Saturday. He’s had a fantastic work opportunity come up – a big TV project you’re likely to see advertised everywhere soon! We’re so disappointed, but thrilled for him, and we’ll keep you posted on any changes.
We understand this is really disappointing, particularly if you’ve already booked hotels or made plans for the event. We’re frustrated too, as we’ve already covered the costs of travel and lodging ourselves, so this is a setback for us as well.
Another source said Martin was upset about the social media post because it might have caused problems with ITV. Since the official cast list hasn’t been revealed yet, celebrities aren’t supposed to talk about it.
Martin has already changed the date of his performance, meaning fans will now have to wait seven more months to see him.
We’ve rescheduled the event with the artist for Saturday, June 13th, 2026, and your tickets will automatically be valid for the new date. If you can’t make it, you can easily get a full refund through Skiddle.

Just to clarify, the change wasn’t our choice – it’s because of prior television agreements. All ticket holders have the option to either transfer their tickets to the new date or receive a full refund, and we’re making this process as easy as possible.
We’re so sorry to announce that the show has to be rescheduled, and we know everyone was really excited about it – we are too! As soon as Martin is well enough to return to the stage, we’ll put on an even bigger and better show to make up for it. Thank you for your understanding – this situation is beyond our control, but we promise to make it up to you when Martin’s back next year.
One fan expressed their disappointment, saying they’d spent money on 80s-themed merchandise and felt the event was underwhelming.
The event page promises a night of 80s nostalgia with DJ Martin playing all the classic hits. Get ready to hear iconic artists like Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, Wham, David Bowie, and Madonna in a fun and energetic DJ set!

Tickets for Martin’s Skiddle page range from £19.51 to £33.25, depending on when they’re purchased. Two of his other shows have also been rescheduled, including events planned for Oldham on November 14th and Brighton & Hove on December 6th.
Many other show dates, like the one in Norwich on November 28th and Southampton on December 5th, haven’t been updated yet. Tickets are still available for these shows, even though Martin is already traveling to Australia.
A representative confirmed to the Daily Mail that seven performances have been moved to new dates. For three shows that couldn’t be rescheduled, all ticket holders received full refunds.
This year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ will feature comedian Ruby Wax, Jack Osbourne, online personality Angry Ginge, actress Shona McGarty, and model Kelly Brook, among other contestants.
Oh my gosh, I’m SO excited! Apparently, Alex Scott, the amazing TV presenter, is going in! And Vogue Williams too – I adore her! Lisa Riley, the brilliant actress, is joining them, and Eddie Kadi is hilarious, I can’t wait to see him in the jungle! Plus, Aitch and Tom Read Wilson are going in too! Seriously, this lineup is incredible, I’m already counting down the days!

Only a couple of weeks ago, Martin had to let his fans know his concerts were still happening after a frightening accident landed him in the hospital. He hurt his hand when he accidentally grabbed a chainsaw by the blade while trying to cut some wood.
In the video, he explained that reports about a chainsaw accident are true, but they refer to an incident that happened last week. He wanted to clarify that it wasn’t recent.
I’m feeling much better now. Just wanted to let you know that the DJ gig at Lincoln Cathedral tonight is still happening, even if you were worried. Thanks for checking in, and things are actually improving quickly.
Martin, husband of singer Shirlie Holliman, is following in his son Roman’s footsteps and will be appearing on ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ Roman, age 32, was a contestant on the show’s nineteenth season.
Radio personality Roman has said he’d be thrilled to see his father on television, ever since his dad appeared on the ITV show in 2019.
Throughout the show, the celebrity contestant lasted the entire 22 days and placed third, after Andy Whyment from Coronation Street. Jacqueline Jossa, who starred in EastEnders, ultimately won the competition.
Martin’s former bandmate Tony Hadley also competed in the show in 2015.
Martin Kemp began his music career with the band originally called the Gentry, which later became Spandau Ballet. He joined the group in 1979 alongside his brother, Gary Kemp, and quickly learned to play the bass guitar – mastering it in just three months.
The band eventually became known as Spandau Ballet and achieved great success in the 1980s, most notably with their 1983 hit song, “Gold.”
Martin is well-known for playing Steve Owen on the BBC’s EastEnders. He stayed with the show until 2002, and his performance as the complicated character earned him both awards and critical acclaim.
Martin’s representatives have been approached for comment.
