Martin Compston’s returning thriller that was ‘one of ITV’s top ten dramas’ of last year gets first look
Returning thriller Red Eye has been given a first look at season 2.
Last year, the ITV series made its initial airing, and it centered around a man who was sent to China on an overnight flight following allegations of murder.
In contrast to the initial season that featured Richard Armitage from “Missing You”, the forthcoming second season introduces Martin Compston from “Line of Duty” into the cast, taking over the role previously held by Armitage.

Initially, they’re seen together with the reappearing actress Jing Lusi, in a bustling airport under strict safety measures. The upcoming episodes trace their characters’ journey, where they set aside disagreements to uncover a fresh mystery.
In addition to the existing cast, we have newcomers such as Isaura Barbe-Brown from “The Gold,” Nicholas Rowe from “The Crown,” Danusia Samal from “The Great,” Trevor White from “Industry,” and Guy Williams from “London Has Fallen.
Joining Lusi is Lesley Sharp portraying Madeline Delaney, Jemma Moore as Jess Li, along with Jonathan Aris, Robert Guilbert, Cash Holland, and Steph Lace.
Lusi is absolutely thrilled to get back into the universe of Red Eye, and can’t wait to experience this exhilarating ride alongside the talented Martin Compston,” she shared.
Compston expressed his excitement, stating: “It’s great to be part of the Red Eye crew. I look forward to expanding upon the tremendous success of the initial season and offering viewers yet another exhilarating journey.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the fresh six-part season is currently under production! The mastermind behind it all, Peter A Dowling, is back at the helm, and we have the privilege of having Jingan Young return as well. She’s set to write one of the episodes herself. Can’t wait to dive in!
Last year, the initial season ranked among the top ten dramas on ITV, with the network announcing that it attracted over 8 million television viewers and approximately 29.3 million streams on ITVX.
In a four-star review by Digital Spy for Red Eye, we noted: “Although Red Eye might not be the definitive exploration of immigrant identity, it’s not Beef in that regard, nonetheless, the film skillfully incorporates these themes within its thriller narrative.
Red Eye season one is available to stream now on ITVX. Season 2 is filming now.
The inaugural print magazine from Digital Spy titled “British Comedy Legends” is out! Grab your copy from newsstands or purchase it online for only £3.99.
