A seventh season of the hit show Line of Duty is confirmed! Martin Compston, Vicky McClure, and Adrian Dunbar are all returning to investigate police corruption, and you can expect plenty of their signature quick-fire dialogue.
Compston, the actor who plays Steve Arnott, has playfully suggested he’d like to see his character killed off in the latest series.
The actor recently told Lorraine Kelly on her show, Lorraine, how thrilled he was that Scotland qualified for the football World Cup for the first time in nearly three decades. He’s determined to be there to support his country’s team, and nothing will stop him.

I watch Line of Duty whenever it’s airing. I told them, ‘Either give me time off work, or write my character out of the show, because I’ll be attending one of the football matches.’
The World Cup is happening in June and July next year, hosted jointly by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. This timeframe will likely influence when filming for related projects begins.

Compston also mentioned that filming will return to Belfast, a city he and the team consider a “second home.”
He explained that despite the long break, they always intended to return for another season. Everyone involved had been occupied with other commitments, but they eventually decided to prioritize reuniting and making it happen.
Jed Mercurio, the show’s creator, recently completed his major project for Netflix, and we’re all really looking forward to it. The story itself is fantastic.

Honestly, it’s a little sad to hear that a lot of shows are now being written for people who are distracted by their phones. It feels like they’re dumbing things down! But thankfully, the creator of Line of Duty has promised they won’t do that – they’re still going to make a show that demands your attention, which is a huge relief as a fan.
“We don’t need to legislate for that,” he said.
Line of Duty seasons 1-6 can be streamed on BBC iPlayer now.
