The British thriller Out There, featuring Martin Clunes, is being hailed as a must-see by a UK streaming platform. Its dramatic and twist-filled storyline makes it a perfect choice for your next binge-watching session.
This six-episode series stars Martin Clunes as Nathan Williams, a reserved farmer who will do anything to safeguard his family when his son, Johnny (played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis), gets mixed up with a dangerous drug group in their area.
The series first appeared on ITV1 in January and February 2025 and is now streaming on ITVX, where it’s been highlighted as a must-watch.

Unlike Martin Clunes’s well-known role in Doc Martin, his series Out There received mostly positive feedback from viewers. It currently has a solid rating of 7.0 out of 10 on IMDb, based on over 2,000 user reviews.
Digital Spy gave the first two episodes a four-star review, highlighting how the deliberately slow pace effectively reflected the main character Nathan’s life, and praising the actors’ performances.

The characters are so relatable and emotionally open that you quickly become invested in their story. As soon as trouble begins – and it doesn’t take long – you’re completely hooked and worried about what happens to them.
One IMDb user described the show as “exciting and edgy,” praising how relatable and desperate the characters are, making it easy to get invested in the dramatic and often tragic storyline.
Like many shows of this type, it felt a bit too long – maybe by a couple of episodes – and the ending wasn’t very satisfying. I don’t want to give anything away, but overall, I found it really engaging, from beginning to end, said one viewer.

Despite being a hit with audiences, the thriller won’t be returning for another season. ITV announced in May that they’ve decided not to move forward with a second season of the show, which many viewers loved.
So, I heard from Clunes himself that we probably won’t be getting a second series. Apparently, ITV just wasn’t happy with the viewership numbers, which is a real bummer. He said they were definitely up for more, but the network didn’t seem to feel the same way, unfortunately.
Out There is streaming on ITVX.
