Married At First Sight’s Beth Accuses Teejay of Gaslighting in Shocking Homestay Fallout!

On Tuesday night’s Homestay episode in Brisbane, Beth Kelly, a participant from Married At First Sight, voiced her criticisms toward her groom, Teejay Halkias.

In my own journey, I found out that during our visits to each other’s family residences, my reality TV partner, who was also 28 at the time, struggled to envision a shared future with me. Instead, he perceived me merely as a close friend.

Caught off guard by the disclosure, Beth is now claiming that Teejay manipulated her, or “gaslit” her, to keep her on the Nine show. In an exclusive conversation with Daily Mail Australia, she made this allegation.

‘It felt so embarrassing because my parents could see he wasn’t into me,’ she said.

The following day, surrounded by his friends, he expresses that he doesn’t envision our relationship continuing or having a future together. This pain is unbearable.

‘I just felt really disrespected and so blindsided. It really hurt my feelings.’

When directly questioned whether Teejay had been leading her on, giving the impression of a connection before then, she acknowledged it was true.

Reflecting on it now, there were several instances when I had the sense he might not have been interested in me, but I chose to disregard those feelings,” she stated.

‘He was really good at saying the right things, but sometimes his actions would prove otherwise.

Instead of ignoring the issue by concealing it, I guess I ought to have faced reality more promptly and recognized what was happening.

Arriving at Homestays felt significant to me. If he hadn’t been receptive prior, it’s unclear why he decided to come. To me, his presence there didn’t seem logical.

Beth went on to say Teejay ‘played’ her and just ‘wanted to stay as long as he could’.

She expressed that he transitioned from someone I enjoyed spending time with immensely to being unusually distant, which left me feeling pain. It was quite disheartening, she added.

It seems to me that he may have intentionally sullied my reputation in order to prolong his participation in the study.

She mentioned that it seemed as though he chose to stay at Homestays, as he had been going along with things and needed an excuse [to accuse Beth], according to her.

Nevertheless, it seemed that Teejay held a contrasting perspective regarding the incident with Beth on the program.

According to the business development manager, neither party was responsible for the disagreement that occurred between him and Beth during their Homestay stay.

After Teejay shared with his friends that he didn’t foresee a future with Beth, even though they had recently been intimate, a disagreement ensued between them.

Teejay confessed that he felt under pressure when Beth’s family probed him about his emotions, ultimately choosing to express openly his affection for Beth.

He stated, “I’m not saying something definitely went amiss. Neither you nor I did anything specifically incorrect.

In the current situation, I wasn’t experiencing an increase in my romantic feelings, and I encountered numerous direct questions about the future, such as, “What would happen if we broke up tomorrow?

Additionally, that conversation triggered those feelings within me, and those were my sentiments at the time, which is what I communicated.

Regarding Beth’s allegations that he was merely stringing her along to reach Final Vows, Teejay firmly denied this, stating that it was completely untrue.

He clearly wasn’t aiming for the final destination. Instead, he suggested that each day should be approached independently in this particular experiment, which was our primary objective.

I was consistently attempting it, and that’s exactly what we were all about.

When I found myself at an emotional impasse that seemed unyielding, I confided in Beth about it. To put it mildly, yes, it was quite a challenging circumstance.

Teejay admitted that it was difficult for him to share with Beth that he had no feelings for her, expressing that it’s never an easy task to disclose such sensitive information.

He expressed that it’s likely they won’t approve of it, and that it may cause them pain. From the start, he made it clear that his intention in this experiment was not to inflict harm, especially not on his wife.

I found it challenging to accomplish that task, too. The circumstances weren’t straightforward, and the discussion itself wasn’t simple.

Married At First Sight will continue on Wednesday at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
