Bec Zacharia, a bride from Married At First Sight, has responded to claims of a falling out with fellow contestant Gia Fleur, denying any serious conflict.
I recently addressed some claims made about a comment I allegedly made at a friend’s hen’s night. Apparently, there’s been talk that I called someone named Gia a really nasty name, and I wanted to clear the air about that whole situation, as reported by the Daily Mail.
‘That would have been TV gold,’ Bec said bluntly.
If I had actually said that, it definitely wouldn’t have been removed from the final version. I never said it.
Bec said she and Gia didn’t get along at first, but it wasn’t because of anything serious – they just had very different personalities.
‘I think we are fundamentally very different people,’ she said.
‘In real life, our friendship groups wouldn’t overlap. That’s just the truth,’ she continued.
The excitement began at the bachelorette party when Gia arrived and instantly changed the mood.
Bec felt Gia seemed distant and uninterested, especially when other brides were sharing personal or emotional stories.
Bec noticed Rachel sharing her story on the couch, but someone in the room was visibly dismissive. Bec felt this was unkind and believed it’s always free to be considerate.
She also rejected claims that her issues with Gia had anything to do with her Playboy past.
‘I wasn’t judging her for being a Playboy bunny,’ Bec said.
She was strikingly beautiful and carried herself with confidence, but honestly, her attitude bothered me.
According to Bec, the situation escalated when Gia declined to participate in group conversations.
Bec remembered asking everyone to share a bit about themselves, saying, “Tell us about you.”
‘She refused. I didn’t understand why you’d come into a group like that and not open up.’
Bec claims she didn’t personally insult Gia and says they stayed apart from each other throughout most of the evening.
‘She said I stared at her with evil eyes, but I was reacting to what I was receiving,’ she said.
‘It was a clash of personalities, nothing more.’
The bride, known for being direct, also shared her feelings before starting the show, revealing she struggled with self-doubt after losing weight.
She admitted she’d never felt beautiful before, but that feeling was quickly overshadowed by worry. She was terrified he wouldn’t find her attractive and would simply leave.
Okay, so I was totally glued to the wedding updates, and Bec said she was SO nervous walking down the aisle. But then she saw Danny at the altar and immediately felt this huge wave of relief… until his vows started. Seriously, they took the WEIRDEST turn, and I just… I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! It was so unexpected.
As soon as Danny made a joke about needing bail money, Bec knew something was wrong.
‘I thought he wasn’t there for the right reasons,’ she said.
I might have gotten a little carried away, but you were getting married to someone I didn’t know! It’s a pretty unforgettable situation.
Okay, so things seemed amazing at first, but then Bec let it slip that their honeymoon was actually when everything started falling apart. Apparently, Danny confessed to her right after they were intimate that… well, he just didn’t feel it. No spark, no chemistry, nothing! I’m honestly heartbroken just thinking about it. It’s like, all that excitement for nothing. It completely changed everything, she said. I can’t even imagine how awful that must have been for Bec!
She said she immediately sensed he only saw her as a friend. It felt hurtful, like he was only interested in her appearance and not who she was as a person.
The rejection really stung, and Bec confessed she felt unattractive and like people didn’t understand her afterward.
‘I felt ugly,’ she said quietly.
Even though she was hurt by the outcome, Bec defended her behavior on the show and felt she was represented accurately.
‘I’m Vegemite,’ she said. ‘People either love me or hate me. But I was unapologetically myself.’
She also verified she’s a member of the ‘Boss Babes’ group mentioned by relationship expert John Aiken, and described herself as someone who takes charge, is responsible, and eager to improve.
Get ready for some drama at future dinner parties! Bec has hinted she’ll be showing both her good and bad sides.
She confessed she hadn’t been very nice at a dinner party. It really made her realize how she didn’t want to behave in the future.
But one thing is non-negotiable.
‘I’m loyal,’ Bec said. ‘If anyone comes for my husband, I will defend him. That’s what wives do.’
As tensions continue to simmer, Bec made one thing clear – she is not backing down from her truth.
‘These are real people,’ she said. ‘Not everyone is meant to get along.’
Married At First Sight continues Thursday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
