Married At First Sight Star Exposes Shocking Truth About Fake Homestays and Her Worst Experience
Previously married contestant on “Married At First Sight,” Tahnee Cook, disclosed the actual facts regarding the dwellings that participants inhabit during the “Homestays Week.
There’s been talk that some producers are renting out properties on Airbnb as ‘pretend homes’ for couples to reside in, following their discovery of doing so with Jacqui Burfoot.
On the contrary, Tahnee, aged 29 and featured in season 10 of the show, shared on TikTok yesterday that she didn’t reside in a staged residence during her Homestays Week.
Instead, the podcaster explained that she experienced the most unfortunate situation possible when she was compelled to reside in her highly identifiable real-life apartment in Bondi.
In 2023, Ollie Skelton was paired with them, and due to their cramped living situation in her compact studio apartment, they had limited room for filming and were quite discoverable by fans.
She mentioned that there’s a possibility these locations for the Homestays might not actually be the individuals’ personal homes, but rather Airbnb rentals instead.
Tahnee went on to say, “I found my experience intriguing as it was a part of me, and I recall receiving some criticism for it.
In simpler terms, she mentioned that people criticized her online because she lived in a modest apartment in the fashionable neighborhood of Bondi, even though she owns costly Balenciaga handbags.
Let me emphasize, I covered the cost myself. To be honest, that came up to approximately $475 per week, and considering the current economic situation, it’s quite reasonable.
‘I am going to buy my designer handbags and live in my shoe box and I am happy with that.’
Yet, that incident wasn’t the most distressing part of Tahnee’s Homestay adventure, for she disclosed that her address had inadvertently been broadcasted on television, causing security issues.
During that period, my residence was in a well-known apartment complex located in Bondi. Since the place is quite renowned, I felt the need for privacy, expressing, “I prefer keeping my living location confidential as it will be showcased on television.
It was impossible for you to conceal it. I voiced my worry and anxiety over the situation, as I didn’t wish for strangers to discover where I reside.
How would you describe their activity? They guide others to the locations where I used to reside. There was a sequence depicting a stroll, visually representing the eatery and grocery store situated right across the street.

1) It was quite clear which building I resided in, as it was literally the one with numbered hallways. To make matters worse, it turned out to be a rather unfortunate situation.
Tahnee expressed gratitude for having relocated to a new apartment just prior to her show’s television premiere, since fans soon started figuring out where she resided and posting the information online.
If I’d been there, reading those comments in that very apartment, I’d have been a total wreck,” I expressed.
It truly irritated me since I hadn’t wished to attend initially. The entire situation made me feel uneasy, having so many strangers in my house.
She said producers and viewers had ‘no respect for her privacy’ after the episode aired.
2025 bride Jacqui, aged 29, got caught attempting to represent an Airbnb as her residence during Homestays Week, deceiving groom Ryan Donnelly that it was her house.
On Tuesday, it was disclosed by Daily Mail Australia that the opulent Manly residence where she received Ryan, aged 36, on Monday evening was in fact a temporary rental through Airbnb.
For this scene, the jewelry store owner came back to the Northern Beaches and was captured on camera wheeling her luggage into a place that was presented as her residence.

However, the property was in fact a $200-a-night Airbnb rental.
The narration called it “Jacqui’s house,” yet in truth, it was a two-story property that the producers had organized for rent.
Additionally, the deceit didn’t stop at that point; it turned out that the house depicted wasn’t the same one featured in her wedding backstory.
Based on what a source within the production team has shared, it was considered that Jacqui’s real living space was too cramped and inconvenient for filming purposes.
A source shares with Daily Mail Australia that the woman had several housemates, and the place was quite untidy, which made her uneasy about the situation.
‘Ryan and Jacqui were told to act as if the house was real and avoid suggesting it was a facade in any way, giving the impression that it truly belonged to Jacqui.’
The source added the decision was ironic given Jacqui’s later criticisms of Ryan’s real home.
As a lifestyle advisor, I find it intriguing that they seem to be displaying a double standard. They criticize Ryan’s living conditions, yet at Ryan’s place, Jacqui was granted unbridled liberty to voice her opinions.
Additionally, Married at First Sight viewers have alleged that the supposed high-end home was actually adorned with Kmart decor, following Jacqui’s persistent self-description as a person of high social standing.
Homestay Week is structured to provide a peek into the everyday routines of MAFS participants, making it seem as if viewers are temporarily residing in their real homes.
Instead, producers chose a visually pleasing location since Jacqui resides in a compact shared flat in Manly.
Or:
Producers went with a more attractive setting as Jacqui lives in a small, shared apartment in Manly.
Both sentences convey the same meaning but have slightly different tones and structures.
‘Her real bedroom was tiny, and the camera crew couldn’t fit in her apartment,’ the insider added.
‘Her roommates’ stuff was everywhere and they would’ve had to be asked to leave for filming.’
