Married At First Sight star Ella Ding shares pregnancy update…after backlash over sponsored announcement post: ‘Every day I’m in awe’
Fan-favorite Ella Ding from Married At First Sight shared an update on her pregnancy journey, getting ready to embark on motherhood for the very first time.
Ella, 31, announced that she was expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo last month.
On Friday, Ella openly expressed her long-awaited enthusiasm on Instagram during a fan Ask Me Anything session, regarding the upcoming event.
The fan asked: ‘Are you going private for birth? What’s your experience so far?’
Ella shared that she intends to deliver her baby at a private hospital, confessing that it helps alleviate her feelings of unease.

She hadn’t previously imagined or dreamed about pregnancy and childbirth until she got to know her spouse, as she put it in writing.
Recently, I’ve shifted from feeling anxious to genuinely thrilled. Many of my dear friends have already had kids, with a few having more than one, and I’ve discovered that opting for a private setting helps soothe my apprehensions.
She added that her doctors have made her transition to first-time mum as smooth as possible.
‘So far, my experience has been very smooth,’ she said.
‘My OB has made me feel relaxed, supported and guided, while still trusting my gut along the way.’
She commented: ‘He’s quite straightforward, without mincing words, and a bit traditional, which I truly admire.’
To put it simply, Ella concluded by expressing that she was thoroughly enjoying each step of her pregnancy experience.
‘Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it,’ she said. Every single day I’m in awe.’

In a set of pictures, Ella was seen with her spouse Guy Palermo, whom she wedded recently, showing off her slight pregnant belly and a clear positive result from a Clearblue pregnancy test.
A different photo displayed various Polaroids highlighting her growing belly, as well as a selfie featuring her and Guy, along with an ultrasound picture of their upcoming child.
In a place that feels like both healing and hard work, the next phase seemed to unexpectedly arrive for her, as evidenced by her post’s caption.

Overjoyed by the news, I couldn’t help but share my excitement when Ella announced her pregnancy. However, it seems that my enthusiasm didn’t sit well with Domenica Calarco, Ella’s former bestie and star of MAFS, as she called me out for doing so through a sponsored post.
Ella’s announcement was reposed by the @influencer.updates.au Instagram page.
Domenica took to the comments section to slam Ella for ‘monetising her pregnancy’.
‘Even has to monetise her pregnancy announcement. Some people will never change. Wow,’ she wrote.
Many of Ella’s followers also took offense to the sponsored post, which led to a response from the reality star addressing the criticism.
She shared with Yahoo Lifestyle that as long as her ideas are clear and comprehensible to her and her community, that’s what truly counts. If a similar opportunity were presented, she would definitely seize it.
Ella additionally pointed out that the financial struggle due to the cost of living increase made accepting the brand collaboration understandable. Moreover, she emphasized that raising a child can be incredibly costly.
Ella and Guy shocked fans when they said ‘I do’ in a surprise wedding ceremony back in April 2024.
I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw them confirm on Instagram that they had tied the knot, barely a few weeks after making their engagement official!
She revealed that they had a private wedding before their reception, which was held at the Sophia venue inside The Prahran Arcade in Melbourne, prior to the event.
Ella, fresh from debuting her latest podcast titled “The Ella Era,” shared some insights on her pregnancy cravings during a private conversation with Daily Mail Australia.
‘I’ve been really wanting Dim Sims,’ she said.
We visited the South Melbourne Markets where I purchased a fried and steamed dim sim with a side of chili and soy. Just thinking about it makes me want to return for more.
‘I’m just leaning into this opportunity to eat whatever I want and just enjoy it.’
