Married At First Sight star Dean Wells slams Australia Post for including Indigenous name section on parcels

Australian social media personality Dean Wells publicly criticized Australia Post for adding a section to their delivery address form asking for the Traditional Place Name of the location.

I was pretty shocked to see what happened! This guy, a former groom from Married at First Sight – he’s 47 – shared a really frustrated post on his social media stories yesterday. He seemed seriously annoyed with Auspost and captioned it with a sarcastic ‘Really Auspost?’ It’s clear something went wrong with a delivery, and he wasn’t happy about it!

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the recent discussions around addressing mail, and it’s interesting to note that this conversation is happening almost five years after Australia Post actually introduced standardized packaging. This packaging included a space specifically for people to include First Nations names in the address, a really thoughtful move towards recognition and respect.

Wells shared a picture of an Australia Post envelope, showing fields for the recipient’s name and company, if applicable.

In his post, Wells highlighted the phrase ‘Traditional place name (if known)’ by circling it in red.

He also pointed out that there’s really no need to include old-fashioned place names on envelopes anymore.

An Australia Post representative explained to Daily Mail in 2020 that the updated addressing rules were designed to remind people to recognize the Indigenous people who traditionally owned the land where deliveries were being made.

We’re deeply committed to supporting and celebrating the rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to taking meaningful steps towards a future where Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians can move forward together in reconciliation.

Wells developed a reputation for his outspoken nature when he appeared on MAFS in 2018.

Okay, so now he’s REALLY doing his own thing! He’s got this podcast and YouTube show called ‘Dangerous Ideas with Deano,’ and honestly, it’s amazing. It’s everything you’d expect – totally unfiltered and he just *says* what everyone else is thinking. It’s brilliant, seriously!

In August 2023, he announced his engagement to Beauty and The Geek star Aimee Woolley.

People began speculating about a romance between Dean and Aimee in August 2022 after they were spotted getting close and kissing at a restaurant.

The couple publicly confirmed their relationship the next month, after making their red carpet debut together at Maxim Magazine’s 11th birthday celebration in Sydney.

Aimee shared a photo on Instagram of her and someone else cuddling at the event, with the caption: ‘Is this my new geeky crush?’

Dean, a contestant on Dancing With The Stars, quickly responded to the post, jokingly saying, ‘Definitely not a geek!’

I remember watching Aimee on Beauty and the Geek a couple of years ago – she was paired with Jayden, who was such a cool ‘geek’ with amazing martial arts skills! They were a really fun team to root for.

Dean became well-known during the fifth season of Married At First Sight when he had an affair with Davina Rankin while still ‘married’ to Tracey Jewel on the show.

He has since made headlines for his controversial and outspoken views.

In February 2023, he posted a digitally altered flyer on Instagram promoting a show by drag queen Charisma Belle at Manly Library, falsely suggesting it was suitable for children as young as three years old.

Dean altered the initial flyer by adding a provocative image of Charisma, taken from her Instagram account.

He shared this post with a caption criticizing the event and calling drag performances sexual in nature, which quickly drew strong reactions and criticism.
