Married At First Sight: Adrian’s Toxic Family

Supporters of Married At First Sight became enraged towards Adrian Araouzou’s sisters and closest companion following a heated brawl at a pub during the Friends and Family visit on Monday evening.

The siblings strongly defended their brother – lashing out at his bride Awhina Rutene. 

The exchange descended into a rowdy pub fight, with Adrian and his posse eventually storming out. 

Audience reactions ranged from unimpressed to critical, as numerous individuals voiced their opinions regarding an alleged toxic family dynamic depicted in X. Many drew parallels between this family and the characters in the movie Mean Girls, suggesting a similar level of drama and interpersonal conflict.

‘Adrian and his full family are disgustingly toxic this is actually insane’ wrote one person.

1. One person remarked, “Wow, they’re quite an unimpressive group,” as another chimed in, “Adrian’s relatives seem to be rather unsavory individuals, to put it mildly.”

2. The first individual exclaimed, “Gosh, they’re not exactly shining examples of good company,” with the second adding, “It appears Adrian’s kinfolk are far from admirable folks, let’s just say that.”

3. One person stated, “They’re not exactly my idea of a model family,” while another commented, “Adrian’s relatives don’t seem to be the most respectable characters, if I may put it politely.”

I was genuinely astonished by the way Adrian’s relatives and friends spoke to him. As a woman, I find it hard to comprehend such behavior. I hope they took a second look at that interaction.

It appears that his family accepts his behavior, no matter how inappropriate it may be, which is a reflection of Adrian’s character. In other words, the way they tolerate him suggests the kind of person he is.

Wow, I can hardly fathom the way Adrian’s sisters behaved towards Awhina and Cleo, considering Adrian just smirks most of the time. It’s truly appalling! And another person seemed to agree.

Adrian’s sisters have an overabundance of boldness. They criticize, blame, and insist even more. If anyone supports such behavior, they are contributing to the issue.” Another option could be: “Adrian’s sisters show too much audacity. They shame, blame, and keep going. Anyone who finds this acceptable is part of the problem.

Another person stated: ‘Adrian’s relatives seem to be minimizing the main concern, which underscores a broader issue in our society when dealing with inappropriate behavior. This acceptance normalizes his actions, and it’s not acceptable.’

The Friends and Family visit turned into an all-out disaster on Monday night.

What was meant to be an opportunity for loved ones to offer support quickly descended into chaos.

In a heated exchange, Awhina’s identical sibling, Cleo, challenged Adrian on his behavior towards her sister, escalating the situation to a boiling point that strained not only their relationship but also extended to both sets of family members.

The situation escalated swiftly as Cleo promptly expressed her worries regarding Adrian, having been informed by Awhina of feelings of neglect and disregard during their relationship.

‘She’s been telling me some pretty unsettling things about her husband Adrian,’ Cleo shared.

She shares with me that he frequently belittles her as a means to elevate his own image, and she expresses feeling unacknowledged or overlooked. In essence, she feels like an invisible presence to him.

Adrian, noticeably feeling strong emotions, asserted that he’d been putting forth an effort, but Awhina countered by stating that he hadn’t given much attention to her being there at all.

She expressed, “It would be very kind if you could simply recognize my presence,” she said, showing clear signs of exasperation.

Cleo didn’t mince words when she pointed out that Adrian hadn’t lived up to his role as a supportive husband towards Awhina.

She asserted that Awhina needs a compassionate, supportive companion who is ready to be there for her. Unfortunately, Adrian does not fit that description.

The situation intensified as Adrian’s sisters and friend Jasmine intervened, insisting that Awhina was unduly emphasizing the negative aspects.

Cleo wasn’t having it. ‘Because he hasn’t even shown up!’ she shot back. 

At a certain moment, Jasmine attempted to intervene by proposing that perhaps Adrian was expressing himself differently. However, Cleo reacted strongly to this suggestion.

‘He has not even shown up! Not once!’ she screamed, leaving the room in stunned silence. 

In a moment that left me quite shaken, I found myself facing accusations from Cleo, suggesting that I had neglected showing interest in Awhina’s little boy, Adrian. It was a claim that struck a nerve and made me reconsider my interactions with both of them.

‘I have not been asked once by you how my son is,’ Awhina revealed, her voice breaking. ‘Not once.’

Adrian argued that he was simply giving Awhina time to discuss her son whenever she felt comfortable, but Cleo showed no enthusiasm for this explanation.

‘She’s a fantastic mother, and the fact that you’ve never even asked about her son? Disgraceful.’ 

With tensions at boiling point, Cleo made her final stance crystal clear. 

She firmly stated, “You’re not suitable for my sister, and you definitely aren’t fit to be around my nephew. I would never, under any circumstances, allow you to meet him.

Afterward, Adrian expressed his bewilderment to the producers, saying he believed the whole lunch had been intentionally orchestrated to portray him in a negative light.

He sighed, saying, “It was like facing three opponents instead of one.” He added, “From the get-go, they were aggressive, making me feel as if I was under attack right from the beginning.

Meanwhile, Awhina found herself shedding tears, deeply disheartened as she watched her efforts to salvage the relationship slowly fall apart right in front of her.

‘I’ve given up so much to be here,’ she sobbed. ‘And now I’m just mad and pissed off.’

Throughout the entire week, there was a palpable sense of unease due to Awhina’s emotional breakdown during the previous Sunday’s episode of Married At First Sight.

In a turn of events, the bride found herself at odds with her husband, Adrian, when he abruptly departed from the project following a perceived slight during a photo shoot for promotional purposes.

The 30-year-old cried out and wept as she described her feelings: “It was incredibly disheartening. I felt overlooked… Since I didn’t consider it merely a promotional video.

She pointed out that it would be best if you were there for me, but it seems like I’m not a top concern for you.

Or, more casually:

She let him know that being present for her was important, but it looked like he had other things on his mind.

Adrian chose to stay in the experiment to try and make it up to Awhina, but she chose to leave.

She cried because she was far from her child and was missing significant milestones due to a self-centered chase for love, yet it wasn’t a trade worth making.

Since Adrian opted to stay, it means he’ll be part of the experiment for another week, as per the guidelines.
