Marni’s FW25 “The Pink Sun” Collection Turns the Runway into a Living Canvas

Marni’s Fall/Winter 2025 Vol. 2 collection, titled “The Pink Sun,” is a captivating blend of historical refinement and subterranean vigor. This collaboration between designer Francesco Risso, artist Olaolu Slawn, and creative group Soldier Boyfriend resulted in a collection that mirrors the unbridled creativity born from their artistic dialogue. For a month, they turned their shared workspace into a vibrant environment where old-world craftsmanship met bold, innovative experimentation.

This collection centers around The Salon – a notion that surpasses just fashion, transforming Marni’s realm into a vibrant, dynamic artwork. Drawing inspiration from the hazy atmosphere of Milanese cafés and the profound dialogues in historic art salons, the show reflects Marni’s ongoing transformation. It connects the brand’s rich history with its evolving creative personality.

This assemblage creatively transforms common themes into surprising forms. A suit is crafted from a wolf’s pelt with sharp tailoring, flowers explode vibrantly from satin dresses, and tufts of fur cascade from garments as if they were born from dreams. The harmony between practicality and whimsy characterizes the collection, encapsulating the unrestrained artistic essence that brought it to life.

A key feature of “The Pink Sun” is the integration of Slawn’s artwork throughout the line, serving as a base for the vibrant prints that characterize this collection. His distinctive rough strokes and bright color schemes blend effortlessly with Marni’s designs, transforming clothing into dynamic canvases. This artistic vibe was clearly evident in some of the show’s most striking outfits, such as the sculpted satin dress worn by Tracee Ellis Ross. The dress, adorned with a bold Slawn design in black lines and yellow cuffs reminiscent of curry, beautifully encapsulated the collection’s energetic spirit.
