Mark Wright plugs axed family show which was scrapped after one season – despite the series including the most iconic moment on reality TV
Mark Wright posted a video clip from the canceled television program that he was part of, which aired only for a single season. However, it included an exceptional scene often referred to as “television gold.
Last year, it was unfortunate news for the Wrights when their BBC travel show failed to secure a second season. However, the good news is that the one series produced can still be watched on iPlayer.
In my last post, I shared a snippet from our family’s TV show, where I, along with my father and brother, were seen engaged in a lively discussion about directions while riding in the car.
Even though Mark Snr was driving the car, he humorously contended that it should have been Josh who was supposed to monitor the GPS and give him directions instead.
In the summer of 2023, the television show titled “A Wright Family Road Trip” was broadcast, chronicling the adventures of the TOWIE star, his footballer sibling Josh, and their father Mark Snr as they journeyed from Scotland to Cornwall.

Although the program had solid viewership numbers and positive feedback from viewers, it wasn’t renewed for another season.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the fact that, despite their apparent disappointment, the Wrights have etched an indelible mark on reality television history with their iconic moment.
The family gained widespread attention after sharing a video of Mark Senior, age 66, losing consciousness during a 130-foot bungee leap, while his unaware sons shouted to him from the observation deck.
While Mark swayed back and forth in mid-air, much like a pendulum, a 37-year-old man named Mark could be observed calling out multiple times, “How are you feeling?” to an apparently unresponsive father. This did not seem to phase him.
To enjoy some quality bonding time, Mark, his 34-year-old brother Josh, and their father decided to embark on a road trip through Britain, interspersing the journey with a couple of thrilling experiences.
When Mark Sr learned they were about to jump off a bridge, he clarified, “Josh picked this stunt to tease Mark, but he doesn’t grasp that I’m right in the thick of things. Right now, I’m on the verge of losing my temper with him and could easily do so!
After that, he questioned the teacher about whether it was risky. He went on to say, “Mark is quite shaken; I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides not to proceed… or if I decide the same thing. However, once I’m up there, if I feel uncomfortable, I won’t force myself to go through with it.
Determined to serve as a role model for his sons, Mark Sr boldly jumped from the platform and plunged into the depths below, with unexpected and dramatic results.

Mark Snr’s sudden fall significantly lowered his blood pressure and slowed his heart rate, leading to an immediate fainting spell.
As Mark Jnr and Josh called out to him, they remained oblivious since he was spinning upside-down in his harness.
I asked my dad about his feelings, but he remained quiet. “Dad, how are you doing?” I inquired.
‘Dad, how do ya feel?’ Josh mirrored.
‘Is Mark alright? He appears to have stopped moving.’ This is a reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift action in any challenging scenario we might find ourselves in.
Fortunately, Mark Snr quickly came to again and, as if no incident had transpired, he exultantly pumped his fist in victory upon being lifted back onto the platform.
Undeterred by what had just happened, he shared with his sons, “That was incredibly awe-inspiring yet absolutely petrifying!” or “Despite being frightened, I found it incredible and said to my sons, ‘That was both thrilling and terrifying!’
In the moment when Josh didn’t realize his father had fainted, he wondered aloud, “Were you ignoring us or yelling when we asked if you were okay?
Mark Snr then cleared up the matter by explaining: ‘I think I blacked out.
‘All I can remember is that I went into a swing and that was that.
1. Everything beyond that point became indistinct! When Mark Jr didn’t hear a response from you, he thought you had scared him senseless.
2. After that, everything else seemed unclear to me! Mark Jr was startled because he didn’t get a reply from you.
Regardless of the videos going popular, the Wright family has decided not to continue with another season of their traveling series.
According to a source close to the production, the show was initially considered as a “wait-and-see” project, but it turned out not to be what they had planned.
According to the source, if the show was enjoyed by the audience and attracted good viewership numbers, there’s a possibility that the BBC might consider creating another season.
‘The Wrights would have been up for it, but it wasn’t to be.’
Although the source noted that the Essex family might find solace in the fact that the BBC remains eager to collaborate with them, it suggests there may be another opportunity for a show in the future.
According to a representative from the BBC, the show “A Wright Family Holiday” was produced for a single occasion and has not been canceled.
