Mark Wright is facing criticism online, with some calling him ‘cruel’ and ‘vile,’ after a resurfaced clip from his time on TOWIE with ex-girlfriend Lauren Goodger began circulating. The scene has been described as shocking and unpleasant.
One of the first stars of the reality show The Only Way Is Essex, the 38-year-old was part of the original cast when the show began in 2010. He left after the third season finished a year later.
Lauren and Mark’s eight-year relationship ended on a reality show in 2012. Mark is now married to actress Michelle Keegan.
A clip from the show’s very first Christmas episode is currently causing outrage on TikTok. The scene shows Mark juggling three women, and after almost 15 years, viewers are now expressing their anger over it.
Lauren, his former girlfriend who still has strong feelings for him, was seen talking to Mark at a party. He seemed to lead her on about getting back together, but ultimately rejected her advances.
Just before this conversation, Mark was flirting with his co-star, Sam Faiers. They then got into a taxi together, shared a kiss, and drove off, with Mark playfully winking at the camera as they left.
The scene opens with Mark walking over to Lauren and asking her what she would want most for Christmas.
‘I don’t know. Go to New York, get away,’ Lauren says, before Mark asks: ‘Who with?’
Lauren responds by saying ‘you,’ and Mark replies coldly, ‘It’s obvious that if I thought we could make things work, I’d be with you tonight. But I don’t see that happening right now.’
‘I do still love you. I don’t need to lie to you.’
Lauren asks Mark who he’d choose above everyone else, and he immediately says it would be her – simply because she’s the most convenient choice.
Lauren, clearly upset, asks what Mark means by ‘the easiest option.’ Mark responds, telling her it’s because he loves her and no one else.
Lauren replies: ‘I know you love me and obviously I love you too but this can’t go on.’
Mark mentioned he’d like to spend some time together over Christmas, but he needs time to consider things first and isn’t sure yet if he’s ready.
He walked away, and Lauren turned her face, beginning to cry as a sad song played. She wiped away a tear.
Mark is next shown resting against a car outside the mansion while talking on the phone with his friend, James Argent.

Okay, let me tell you, as someone who follows relationships closely, this situation is just… frustrating! He asked her what she wanted for Christmas, and she excitedly told him she dreamed of a trip to New York – picturing a magical getaway and maybe even a proposal! Then… nothing? It’s incredibly insensitive to ask someone what they want and then completely ignore it. What was the purpose of even starting that conversation? It’s a classic example of leading someone on and then leaving them disappointed. Honestly, it’s just unkind.
