Mark Wright Forgoes Robert De Niro Interview for Baby Palma

Deeply disappointed, Mark Wright had to forgo a cherished job prospect because of the arrival of his newborn child with spouse, Michelle Keegan.

Previously known TOWIE star, Michelle Keegan (both aged 37), recently announced the birth of their daughter named Palma, by sharing a heartwarming photo of the newborn on social media.

However, it’s come to light that the scheduling of Palma’s arrival prevented him from personally interviewing Robert De Niro, aged 81, for Heart Radio in recent times.

On Saturdays, Mark shares hosting duties for Heart’s Breakfast Show with his good friend Olly Murs, who is 40 years old, and more recently, actors from the Alto Knights team, including Debra Messing, have stopped by the studio.

The interview was released this weekend but is thought to have been recorded prior to it airing.

In the midst of my studio visit for an interview, Mark made his presence known via a video call that appeared on the screen, joining me from afar.

During the chat, Olly shared with Robert and Debra that Mark felt extremely disappointed for being unable to attend in person.

He mentioned that Mark is standing behind his left shoulder, but unfortunately, Mark won’t be able to join your meeting today as he’s really disappointed about it.

Mark then added: ‘I was supposed to be there. The one time …’

Robert, during my time in Los Angeles, I spoke with almost everyone in your profession, but the one individual I missed out on interviewing, whom I truly wished to speak with, was none other than you!

When I learned about your visit to Heart, I was genuinely thrilled and eagerly awaited the day. However, an unexpected event occurred – my wife chose to start our family by having a baby. As a result, my commitments at home have become more pressing, making it impossible for me to be in the studio at this time.

He then spoke about his baby daughter as Robert commented: ‘Ah that’s nice. Nice name.’

Mark previously lived in LA where he worked as a host on Extra and interviewed a range of stars.

Last week, Mark was deeply moved when he shared his feelings about becoming a father for the first time, calling it the “greatest accomplishment” in his life.

During his radio broadcast, he gleefully talked about being a father, reminiscing about the special instant when he cradled his freshly born daughter for the first time.

When Olly inquired about my feelings, I struggled to find the right words, for the emotions were swirling within me like a tempestuous sea. To be frank, I was overwhelmed, my friend.

This milestone marks the pinnacle of my life; it’s constantly on my mind. Yet, I must acknowledge that my wife deserves nothing less than heroic acclaim. She’s not just a superhuman or a superhero, but she has miraculously brought our baby into this world.

Expressing his admiration, he commented: ‘It gives one a deeper understanding of the sacrifices our mothers made for us, increasing my respect even further and acknowledging the struggles faced by women.’

‘It’s the best feeling in the world. I wake up every morning just so excited to see her face.’

Reflecting on the time I held her, I can’t help but feel a rush of emotion as I remember it now.

It seems that other things no longer matter, and this experience has helped me understand what truly counts in life. My dear Palma, my affection for you grows stronger each day, and I eagerly look forward to spending the remainder of my life with you.

Experiencing an extraordinary sensation that’s difficult to express in words. After enduring some wait, pursuing our aspirations and professions, we have finally arrived at this moment. Now, we are proud parents of a newborn.

After only a few days from giving birth, he shared that he’d be using FaceTime to connect with his family during his work hours, stating, “I’m currently at the studio, but oh how much I long to be with her. However, in just a short while, I’ll be reunited with her.

‘I’m about to facetime the little one now to see how she is.’ 

Mark playfully mentioned his exhaustion by saying, “I must admit, I’m a bit scattered and out of sorts. It seems like night-time, yet it feels like morning, but there’s one thing I can assure you – I feel great, I feel cheerful.

Laughing with Olly, I quipped: ‘With you being 10 months into it and me just a mere 10 days, our perspectives might be a tad diverse.’

It is thought that the couple selected the name Palma as a tribute to their deep connections with Majorca, their favorite vacation spot, and the location where they unveiled their pregnancy in a photoshoot.

In May 2015, Michelle wed Mark, and since then, they’ve been living in a custom-built mansion located in Essex that they constructed themselves.
