Mark Ronson playfully admitted his career is slowing down, and that his wife, Grace Gummer, is now the more well-known of the two. He recently announced he’s back in the studio working on new music.
The 50-year-old British DJ posted a funny, sad-looking video of himself on Instagram on Monday.
The background music in the clip was an instrumental version of Billie Eilish’s song, “What Was I Made For?”, performed by him and Andrew Wyatt.
The pair produced the version of the song for the 2023 Barbie movie soundtrack.
He wrote over the video: ‘My earnings from past stories are dwindling… my wife is rapidly gaining more recognition than I am… and my moment in the spotlight with Barbie feels like a distant memory. This is my last shot.’
‘Hi from the studio,’ he wrote alongside the post.
Mark and Grace got together in 2020 and tied the knot the following year in an intimate ceremony.
They welcomed their first daughter, Ruthie, in 2023 and their second daughter in February 2025.
Grace Gummer, Meryl Streep’s daughter, is an actress known for her work on shows like The Newsroom, American Horror Story: Freak Show, Extant, and Mr. Robot.
She recently starred as Caroline Kennedy in the popular 2026 series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which has generated a lot of buzz.
This follows a rare public showing of affection between Mark and his wife, who were at the BRIT Awards afterparty.
After giving a heartfelt shout-out to Grace in his speech at the BRIT Awards, Mark kissed her at the glamorous afterparty.
The award-winning record producer, honored for his significant impact on music, expressed gratitude to his collaborators and family. He gave a special shout-out to his wife and their two daughters.
Grace attended the awards ceremony alongside Mark to show her support for her husband.
During the speech, Mark also highlighted that that week marked 20 years since he met Amy Winehouse.
They co-wrote the famous song “Back to Black” in a single day, an experience he described as life-altering.
Mark said: ‘It means so much to me to get this award.’
The musician expressed gratitude to his longtime collaborators, such as Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Dua Lipa, explaining that his work with Amy Winehouse opened doors for him to collaborate with these artists.
He explained that his collaboration with Amy is what initially brought him recognition, and that’s why he deeply values her voice, her skill, and their connection – everything about their time working together.
After Skepta presented him with the award, Mark performed “Ooh Wee” on stage alongside Ghostface Killah. He then honored Amy Winehouse with a performance of “Back to Black.”
The footage featured the late star discussing Mark, as well as Valerie and Amy’s band, The Dap-Kings.
After that, Uptown Funk was performed. Then, Dua Lipa unexpectedly came on stage to sing Dance The Night, a song from the Barbie movie, and their collaboration, Electricity.
Mark once said winning the BRIT Award meant more to him than any other achievement in his music career.
He said in a statement earlier this month: ‘This is the most meaningful honour of my career.
I remember watching my favorite artists receive this award, and it feels surreal to be joining their ranks.
Oh my gosh, Mark is just… amazing! He was actually born in London, can you believe it? But he grew up here in New York, which is why I feel so connected to him! He’s always talking about how proud he is of being British, though, and it’s just… adorable. It’s like he carries a little piece of London with him everywhere, even when he’s dazzling us here in the States!
He said: ‘I left England as a kid, but this country runs through everything I’ve made.’
