Mark Ronson has said that the accusations of child abuse against Michael Jackson made him rethink a meeting he had with the singer when he was a teenager in 1988.
The music producer, now 50, writes in his new book about attending a party at the singer’s hotel room when he was 13. He says nothing inappropriate happened, but he’s replayed the events in his mind many times over the years.
Starting in the 1990s, Michael Jackson faced persistent rumors of child sexual abuse. He was tried on these allegations but found not guilty in 2005. He passed away in 2009 at age 50 from cardiac arrest, which occurred after he was given the anesthetic Propofol to help him sleep.
He explained that Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, introduced him to Michael Jackson. He then went to Jackson’s Bad concert and the afterparty at the hotel.
Ronson was passionate about the music industry from a young age – even at 13 he dreamed of working in it. He hoped to impress Jackson with their meeting, but Jackson was more interested in having fun and goofing around.
He remembered the strange encounter, explaining that Michael was fixated on throwing wet toilet paper out the window – he’d soak clumps of it and then throw them at cars. It sounds unbelievable even saying it now.

According to The Sun, he said he often thought about that event, especially after the allegations surfaced. While it wasn’t a happy memory, it definitely stood out as one of the most memorable experiences of his childhood.
I’ve replayed that night in my mind countless times, and honestly, there was nothing out of the ordinary about it. I can’t find anything strange or suspicious when I think back on it.
Following an accusation of sexual abuse against Michael Jackson by a man who says the abuse occurred when he was ten, the accuser has discussed how becoming a father himself helped him cope with the trauma of the alleged events.
James Safechuck, one of the men who appeared in the 2019 documentary *Leaving Neverland* and shared disturbing accusations against the singer from his childhood, will be featured in a follow-up series.
The 47-year-old father of three shared that he struggled with a breakdown after his wife had their first child in 2010.
He explained to The Times that Michael had a knack for making people believe they came up with ideas themselves. Then, when he looked at his own child, it suddenly dawned on him that something didn’t add up at all.
James revealed to the publication that the well-known musician was between 20 and 30 years older than him when they began a significant and persuasive pursuit of him and his whole family.
Looking back, it became clear he was deeply fixated on jewelry, and he claimed Michael Jackson would give him pieces as a form of payment for disturbing acts. It’s a heartbreaking detail, and one that paints a very troubling picture of the abuse he endured.

He explained it happened daily, and while it might seem strange, it felt similar to the intense connection you experience when first falling for someone. ‘You just do it a lot,’ he added.
Decades later, James admits his ‘understanding of the abuse and what has happened has matured’.
He explained that with time, he’s come to fully grasp how awful his actions were, and that realization has led to feelings of anger.
Michael Jackson’s reputation has faced increasing criticism recently due to allegations of child sexual abuse. A new documentary, “Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson,” was released earlier this year and continues to explore these claims.
James also shared with The Times how things fell apart with Jackson after their romantic relationship ended.
He says Jackson sidelined him in favor of younger performers, but they remained in contact, with Jackson offering guidance on his film and music career. He also claims Jackson gifted him a car when he turned sixteen.
Reports indicate that after the Safechucks gave testimony supporting Michael Jackson in the child molestation case filed by Jordan Chandler, Jackson purchased them a house with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. James Safechuck was a teenager at the time.

James stated that by the time Gavin Arvizo held a second trial in 2000, he had separated himself from Jackson. He alleges Jackson had threatened to reveal he’d lied under oath in the 1993 trial.
Honestly, hearing him say that… it felt like *I* lost something too. He just sounded… empty. Like everything had just gone numb for him, and he’d completely stopped feeling, not just the bad stuff, but *everything*. It’s like he’d shut down, and I just… I can’t even describe how heartbreaking it was to realize that’s where he was at.
I felt a deep self-loathing, but I couldn’t understand the source of it. Now I realize I wasn’t actually hating Michael; I was hating myself instead.
I’ve been following his story for a while, and it’s incredible to see how far he’s come. He really struggled with drugs throughout his twenties, but landing a job in tech was a turning point. It forced him to get his life back on track and get clean – it was exactly what he needed.
Allegations made public by Wade Robson, then 42, in 2013, led to a surge of similar claims against Michael Jackson.
Both men state that the abuse they experienced – lasting seven years for Wade and four for James – caused lasting mental trauma.
Wade first met Jackson when he was five years old and later appeared in three of the pop star’s music videos. He claims the alleged abuse started when he was seven.
