Mark Harmon will be on-screen in one of the NCIS shows this fall
As a long-time NCIS fan who’s been through thick and thin with Gibbs, it feels like coming home to hear that Mark Harmon will grace our screens again in the upcoming series, NCIS: Origins. I can almost hear the familiar sound of boots echoing down the hallways as we delve into Young Gibbs’ story.
It’s been quite a topic of discussion – would Mark Harmon come back to NCIS? At last, we can confirm that the answer is indeed affirmative.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve always felt that Harmon embodied Gibbs from the very start of the iconic series. In truth, his portrayal of Gibbs even extended back to the spin-off in JAG. Over the years, he has become an adored character among fans, leaving many wondering how the show could possibly go on without him. However, we got a glimpse of that reality when Harmon parted ways with the flagship series only four episodes into NCIS Season 19.
Since then, Harmon hasn’t returned. Neither did he show up during the special tribute episode for Ducky. Yet, fans can look forward to seeing him in a new NCIS spin-off series coming this autumn.
Mark Harmon will be in NCIS: Origins
The deadline confirms that Harmon will make an appearance in the debut episode of “NCIS: Origins”. This upcoming prequel series is primarily set in 1991, and it follows a young Gibbs as he joins NCIS following his departure from the Marines, after losing his wife and daughter.
Previously, it was common knowledge that Harmon would serve as the narrator for this series. New information reveals that he will make an appearance in the very first episode.
We don’t know yet how Gibbs will look in the story. Given that this narrative focuses on Young Gibbs, it’s possible that he could make an appearance at the start of the first episode, narrating the tale of how NCIS came to be a significant part of his life. He might be sharing this story with someone aspiring to become a federal agent or perhaps someone he’s met in Alaska who is interested in hearing about his life experiences.
To date, his appearance is limited to a single episode. However, it’s important to note that “never” isn’t a word we can use with certainty. If Harmon decides he’d like to return and if there’s an opportunity for him in the script, we might see him again.
The premiere of “NCIS: Origins” takes place on Monday, October 14, at 9/8 central time, only on CBS. The show will shift to a 10/9 central time slot the week after its debut.
