Mark Harmon Is Unrecognizable As Gibbs In NCIS & Origins Crossover Trailer

CBS recently dropped the first trailer for a big crossover event between NCIS and NCIS: Origins, and fans were surprised to see Mark Harmon returning as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Along with the trailer, CBS adjusted the show’s schedule, calling the night it airs “Super Tuesday” and bringing it back to its original day. It’s too early to tell if this change will boost viewership, but CBS is clearly focused on bringing the franchise back to its peak popularity.

The 23rd season of NCIS, the second season of NCIS: Origins, and the third season of NCIS: Sydney have all started strong since premiering in the 2025-2026 TV season. The story will involve Alden Parker’s team discovering one of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ first cases from when he worked at the Naval Investigative Service (NIS), connecting the past and present timelines.

Longtime viewers of the show will likely notice some changes in Old Gibbs’ look. While he still looks great, it’s clear that some time has passed since Mark Harmon left in season 19 of NCIS. The most noticeable change is probably his hair – he’s switched from his usual middle part to a side part, and it makes you wonder if there’s a story behind it.

Harmon did appear briefly in the first episode of NCIS: Origins, but it was hard to notice him because he was wearing a hat. Ultimately, though, Gibbs remains the same character, and any information about what he’s been up to since moving to Alaska is great news for fans of the show.
