2024’s EE BAFTA Rising Star Award nominee, Marisa, is in the front-runners for her exceptional performance as Amy Winehouse in the movie “Back To Black.

2025 EE BAFTA Awards makes a comeback for an evening filled with unforgettable entertainment, honoring the outstanding movies of the year and the gifted artists who breathe life into them.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I am thrilled to share that after six years of gracing the hallowed grounds of the Royal Albert Hall, the prestigious event has found a new abode in 2023 – none other than the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. Once more, it will be the stage for this glittering spectacle.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards encompass 25 competitive categories which are decided by BAFTA members. 

The program is set to present thrilling fresh developments, such as introducing a brand-new category for Children’s & Family Films. This category aims to recognize and honor exceptional movies that appeal to audiences of all ages.

The newly introduced category will be showcased for the first time in five years, making it the inaugural EE BAFTA Film Award in half a decade.

In simpler terms, a fresh innovation has been added to the Outstanding British Film category – it’s now a revised method for voting.

At the Thriller Conclave, a total of 12 nominations were earned across all categories, making it the most nominated production. Meanwhile, Emilia Perez garnered 11 nominations, and The Brutalist followed closely with nine.

After returning to its homeland, the film “Conclave” has been nominated for double the number of awards at this year’s British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) compared to the number it received at the Golden Globe Awards held in Los Angeles last month.

In simple terms, the gripping mystery film featuring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini revolves around a covert and intense selection process for a new Pope. This intricate game of power, aspiration, and concealed pasts ignites tension among rival cardinals.

The contender surpassed Emilia Perez, the Spanish drama that garnered the most Golden Globe awards, as it earned 11 BAFTA nominations, making it the second-most nominated production, following its collection of 10 trophies at the U.S. award showcase.

Once more, the judges of Awards have overlooked Gladiator 2, as it missed out on the nomination for Best Film, and Paul Mescal, our 28-year-old Irish actor, didn’t secure a place in the BAFTA longlist for Best Actor.

62-year-old Demi Moore, who earned her first acting award at the Globes for her role in Substance, has now been nominated as a Lead Actress contender alongside Cynthia Erivo from Wicked (age 38) and Saoirse Ronan (age 30), for the Outrun.

Movie industry experts think that being nominated for a BAFTA could boost her chances of receiving an Oscar for the first time, given her role in “Ghost.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m excited to share some insights about the BAFTA nominations this year. In the category of Supporting Actor, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin from the hit series Succession have been nominated for their exceptional performances in “A Real Pain” and “The Apprentice,” a portrayal of the Trump biopic. It’s going to be quite the showdown between these talented gentlemen!

Simultaneously, Adrien Brody’s movie “The Brutalist” has earned nine BAFTA nominations. This is followed by the films “Dune Part 2” and “Wicked,” each receiving seven nominations.

2024’s EE BAFTA Rising Star Award nominations are headed by Marisa, due to her exceptional performance as Amy Winehouse in the movie ‘Back To Black’.

On Tuesday, the following five individuals were revealed as finalists: Marisa, Jharrel Jerome (known for his role in “Unstoppable”), David Jonsson (famous for “Alien: Romulus”), Mikey Madison (recognized for her work on “Anora”), and Nabhaan Rizwan (widely known for “In Camera”).

Coincidentally, David, Nabhaan and Marisa were all stars of BBC drama Industry.

Sara Putt, head of BAFTA, shared with the Press Association news agency that this year’s BAFTA nomination list showcased an absolutely fantastic diversity.

She noted: “Moreover, if you examine the top 10 movies under ‘Best Film’, it seems that six distinct movie genres are represented.

In various genres such as science fiction, comedy, horror, drama, and musicals, there are nominations. Surprisingly, horror films like ‘Nosferatu,’ ‘The Substance,’ and ‘Heretic’ have also earned nominations.

Did you notice the collection of movies with music? They range from ‘Wicked’ to ‘Kneecap,’ offering a wide variety and richness that’s truly thrilling.

Winning this award is considered a stepping stone towards achieving A-list stardom, with past recipients such as Tom Holland, James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Lashana Lynch, and Kristen Stewart on the list.

David Tennant will take to the stage to host the BAFTAs for a second year in a row. 

The actor, 53, first hosted the awards show last year, taking over from Richard E Grant.

Without a doubt, he’ll be showcasing his charm and wit after a highly praised first appearance that attracted more than 3.8 million home viewers.

Over 20 million times, the event highlights from the ceremony were watched by fans via social media platforms.

This year’s BAFTA ceremony won’t see the usual presence of Prince William, its president, alongside his wife Catherine, as they are not expected to attend.

Last year, it was weeks prior when Kate learned she had cancer, which she later shared in a video message dated March 22nd. Consequently, she couldn’t attend the awards. On the other hand, Prince William graced the red carpet by himself at this year’s Baftas.

The 2025 EE Bafta Film Awards will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Sunday February 16.
