Marine Serre Pays Tribute To Lynchian Fantasy

Could it be that the enigmatic figure who took Laura Palmer’s life was actually the overindulgence in fashion? In an homage to the late visionary director David Lynch for the Fall/Winter 2025 runway, Marine Serre—a designer hailing from Paris—evoked a sense of mystery reminiscent of Twin Peaks. Models appeared behind confining crimson drapes and traversed a patterned floor that mirrored the iconic red room, hinting at a dark secret lurking beneath the surface.

Similar to Lynch, every piece is brimming with clever twists. Since its inception, the brand has become a cornerstone in discussions about eco-friendly fashion and conservation efforts. Consequently, Marine Serre employs upcycling techniques to dismantle and reconstruct clothing identities.

The show began featuring a catsuit resembling armor, imprinted with the label’s distinctive moon symbol. The subsequent leather pieces exuded a sleek, magazine-ready sheen that masked an edge lurking beneath. While numerous outfits leaned heavily on black, white, red, and recycled denim in mid tones, two stood out with a tiger print bodysuit underneath. In the most surreal landscape of the collection, a full-body bodysuit adorned with a red logo was concealed by a rigid corset boasting oversized hip pads, reminiscent of David Lynch’s dreamscapes.

(Note: The term “Lynchian” refers to the distinctive style and themes often found in the work of filmmaker David Lynch.)

The assortment boasted an intriguing blend of unexpected juxtapositions. A striking mini dress crafted entirely out of watch bands emerged as the unique recycled piece in the collection, while a fur-trimmed coat and cozy shawls hinted at a more refined, classic wealthy vibe.

Despite the diverse array of characters in the parade, ranging from the eerie dream demons of Laura Palmer to the polished wealthy townsfolk, every figure maintained a certain air of sophistication throughout.
