Mariah Carey seemed to be a bit off during an after party at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The event was held at an exclusive club known as The Twenty-Two, where numerous celebrities mingled over cocktails during a night of networking.
The 56-year-old popular singer was singing the song “I Know What You Want,” released in 2002, while standing next to rapper Busta Rhymes, with a microphone in her hand.
The icon seemed a little sleepy as she listened to the rhythm then started to slowly sing the song.
At a certain moment, she shut her eyes to concentrate better on her singing, and she seemed quite confident in her performance. However, it wasn’t evident that everything was perfectly coordinated for her.

Daily Mail has reached out to Carey’s representative for comment.
Fans speculated that she might have spoken a bit slurred, given that the event was an after-party with alcohol available.
Carey might have been disrupted by the crowd who were filming her with their mobile phones and the unexpected demand for a late-night performance, adding to the stress.
In a friendly gesture, Busta wrapped an arm around the star, and then encouragingly called out, “Mariah, sing!” She gave it her all, but shortly after, Busta joined in with the singing.
He then begged, ‘Come on Mariah, give me a note,’ as she looked ready to sit down.
Afterward, she expressed, ‘Alright, it’s time to spread the word about our album’; she was speaking about her upcoming release, “Here for It All”, set to drop on September 26th.
Mariah, with slightly slurred speech, expressed, “Could I also get one? Thank you so much! Oh my goodness, you’re all adorable,” as she spoke.
According to The Sun, she stayed past 2 am.
‘She was clearly drunk and having a good time,’ a source told the site.

Additionally, she called on producer Jermaine Dupri to approach the microphone, inquiring, “Could we possibly play a song by Jermaine Dupri? I find this unbearable.
Mariah mumbled, “Jermaine labels me as a rapper. I’m at a loss for words, yet I want to tell you that I love you. But remember, I’m not actually a rapper.
Addressing the crowd, she then said, ‘These people are so loud. Hello.
‘We ain’t tryin’ to hear y’all. We don’t wanna hear y’all.’
Mariah then mentioned her new album again: ‘The release date is the 26th. Who is touching my arm?
‘Stop touching my arm, okay. So, whatever. I mean, what can I say, the 26th, fine, whatever, bye.’

Carey the argued: ‘I’m doing the best I can with what I got.’
As an utterly devoted admirer, I’d put it this way: I donned a sleek black leather gown and matching jacket, accessorized with lace-print high-heeled boots that sparkled like stars beneath me. A cascade of golden tresses flowed down my back, while I accentuated my features with soft, nude makeup that complemented my style perfectly. And to top it all off, I adorned myself with dazzling diamond jewelry that truly made me shine.
As I prepared for the post-event festivities, I found myself taking center stage at the annual awards gathering held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Clad in stunning gold attire, I felt confident and radiant under the spotlight.
The star also picked up an award and posed with pal Ariana Grande.
