Mariah Carey Reveals What Annoyed Her Most During Her 30-Year Career
Mariah Carey has revealed what’s bugged her most throughout her decades-long singing career.
On April 12, the iconic 56-year-old musician, who was a recent guest on her son’s live broadcast, marked the 20-year milestone for her 2005 album “The Emancipation of Mimi.
When conversing with others, she openly acknowledged her initial frustration when the record was labeled as a “comeback album.
Initially, their referring to it as a comeback album irritated her, she admitted to the magazine. However, these days, she simply finds herself agreeing with them, saying, “Ah, yes, that was indeed my comeback album.
Three years following the release of “Charmbracelet” in 2002, a new project emerged, this time boasting collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri. However, “Charmbracelet” received mixed criticism and debuted at the third spot on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Regarding her previous album’s triumph, she acknowledged that the term ‘comeback’ could be fittingly applied.

Carey vocalized her exasperation by posing the question, “How many times must I make a return?” (implying that she has had to do so multiple times)
She noted that if people ‘know the album, then they usually are fans of the album.’
The entertainer clarified, ‘Not everyone is familiar with that particular album. However, by exploring its tracks, people can gain a sense of what that album is all about.’
Last week, Mariah took to her Instagram, where she has 14 million followers, to commemorate a significant anniversary. She posted: “Celebrating the ‘Mimi’ Milestone with You!
A special edition 20th anniversary iteration of the LP will be released on May 30.
In her Instagram post about #Mimi20, Mariah shared that she was able to revisit all the significant moments from this defining phase in both her personal and career journey.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share with you an album filled with my most monumental hits so far, along with some deeply meaningful songs that hold a special place in my heart. I’d be delighted to hear which Mimi lyric resonates with you the most, and remember, there are more surprises on the horizon! Yours sincerely, MC.

A few days ago, Spotify posted a video in which Mariah expressed that ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ holds a significant place in her life – not only for its music and songs, but also for the journey it took her on as an artist and individual.
She chose Fly Like A Bird as one of her preferred songs from the album, referring to it as ‘the vocal performance I’m most proud of’.
In her own words, Mariah described the song as having an incredibly powerful impact on her. She felt as if she were communicating not only with God but also with herself and her followers when she wrote it. To this day, she continues to feel that same emotional connection to the soft and inspiring R&B melody.
The album achieved global success, eventually being bought 10 million times around the world, including six million copies sold within the U.S.
From 2008 to 2016, the individual in question was wedded to Nick Cannon. Together, they’re parents to 13-year-old twins named Moroccan and Monroe, who are fraternal siblings.
