Mariah Carey RESPONDS to fan claims her 2024 Spotify Wrapped video was AI generated: ‘This isn’t real’
As a longtime fan of Mariah Carey and her iconic holiday music, I must say that this latest controversy over her Christmas Time tour video has me feeling like a “Santa’s baby” caught between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, I can understand why some might question the authenticity of the performance, given the rise of AI technology in recent years. But on the other hand, I’ve been following Mariah’s career for decades now, and I know that her voice and stage presence are as unique and unforgettable as ever.
Mariah Carey responded to speculation that a recently shared video message from her might have been artificially produced.
In this current week, the renowned 55-year-old musical legend shared a Spotify Wrapped video from the year 2024, expressing gratitude towards her fans for playing her tunes and hinting at forthcoming new music.
The short video features Mariah, mother of 13-year-old twins with former spouse Nick Cannon, donning the same red, fur-edged onesie seen on the cover of her 1994 Christmas album.
In a softly lit setting, she spoke with conviction, her lips accentuated by a vibrant red color, standing before shimmering Christmas trees.
However, online enthusiasts swiftly noticed that this supposed ‘Queen of Christmas’ appeared unusually flawless, suggesting her smooth gestures and meticulously articulated speech bore resemblance to an artificially intelligent entity.
One fan commented, “I’m not sure if this is an AI or if they have a gun pointed at them…” when reacting to a post shared by the fan account.
A new post was made saying, ‘Wow, it seems like AI!’, and another person humorously commented, ‘This sure seems like something an AI would create, haha!’ (Note: The original posts were ‘Another added to the thread, “It looks like AI omg,”‘ and ‘While someone else simply wrote, “This looks like AI HAHA.”‘)
One fan defended the singing sensation, writing on the social media platform, ‘It’s not AI, she’s just reading something behind the camera which gives uncanny vibes (you can see it in the eye movements).’
Someone else weighed in, ‘no f*****g way you people actually think thats not ai.’
Mariah expressed her opinion by saying, “Poor lighting and wearing red lipstick makes it seem like I’m an AI to some people. I don’t particularly care for either of these.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement about joining the Boston branch of my #lambily for an unforgettable #Christmastime celebration, thanks to the hitmaker’s Christmas Time tour stop in Massachusetts!
Additionally, there were those who supported Carey’s claim that she was the one who actually filmed the video.
‘It must be hard being so gorgeous that nobody believes you’re real,’ one wrote.
Another supporter chimed in, confirming that it was indeed her, as she was simply reading from a script or prompter.
Currently, the artist known for fantasy music is gracing stages nationwide with her Christmas Time concert tour.
The tour was revealed in August, honoring the 30th anniversary of her enduring holiday hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You.)
The first show was on November 6 in Highland, California, and the final concert is slated for December 17 in Brooklyn.
Mariah’s setlist is rounded out with 26 songs and the concert is around 90 minutes-long.
People can expect performances of the superstar’s most famous and easily identifiable tunes along with popular holiday favorites.
Every December, like clockwork, I can’t help but get swept up in the festive spirit with Mariah Carey’s iconic mid-90s Christmas album playing on repeat!
Every holiday season, you’ll find this hit song dominating the music charts again, thanks to enthusiastic fans who keep replaying it.

Sharing the initial album artwork that depicted her posed amidst a snowy backdrop, she penned a reflective message.
My special digital version of my ‘Merry Christmas’ album is available now! It’s amazing to mark 30 years since its release, though numbers aren’t really my thing. I’m incredibly proud and thankful to everyone who has spent numerous Christmases listening to these songs with me,” she expressed.
She mentioned that ‘You can get the album right away; it features a fresh remastering of my 1994 concert held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.’
