Mariah Carey surprised and excited her fans by posting a TikTok of herself shopping for groceries like a regular person.

The famous singer, age 56, known for being carried onstage and once believing electricity was free, was recently spotted shopping at a Pavilions grocery store, where she was pushing a shopping cart and picking up items like wine and cereal.

Oh my gosh, seeing her in the grocery store was unreal! She was just wandering around, laughing and grabbing Captain Crunch and all sorts of yummy snacks. It was the cutest thing! But then she actually looked… confused? She seriously asked if she had to pay for everything! Like, she’s Mariah, she probably doesn’t even need money, but it was just so adorably quirky seeing her act like a normal person!

She questioned whether they would actually have to pay for it, and fans commented that it was clearly something she wasn’t used to, and it was noticeable.

As someone who really understands creating a comfortable environment, I’ve learned Mariah is very particular about her lighting! Honestly, she can’t stand fluorescent lights – it’s something she’s always mentioned. We were just chatting, and I asked her about the lighting in the room, knowing she prefers to bring her own to ensure it’s exactly to her liking. Mariah recently discussed the painful lighting she experienced while appearing on the popular podcast Las Culturistas, hosted by Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

The pair have a segment titled ‘I Don’t Think So Honey’ where their guests can vent about anything they want for one minute.

Mariah didn’t hold back when she complained about the overhead lighting, asking why anyone would choose to have it. She quickly clarified, though, that it was just a personal preference, not a general issue for everyone.

She admitted that nothing bothers her more than the awful lighting in places like elevators, doorways, and gyms – though she clarified she doesn’t actually go to the gym, she’s just making a point.

The lighting is really bad. Sunlight can be nice during sunset – I’d even go outside and wear a hat to enjoy it, because the light feels gentle on your skin.

Mariah finished by saying that something is unhealthy, so people need to be cautious. However, she doesn’t believe overhead lighting poses a problem.

Please, no more! Every time I go somewhere, someone turns off the lights, and I’ve had enough. I really don’t want to see bright overhead lights anymore – they actually make me feel unwell.

In the video, Nicki says she’s had enough of Mariah, calling her “her highness.” Nicki also claims Mariah was speaking badly about her, which made the argument worse.

During an interview with Barbara Walters, Mariah Carey was asked if she was the woman Nicki Minaj referenced in a song with a derogatory term.
