Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson did a duet, she says, but the world has to wait to hear to it

Mariah Carey has announced that fans will need to be patient for her collaboration with Michael Jackson. She says it won’t be released until his estate gives the go-ahead. More details will be shared when available.

I was really surprised to hear the singer explain to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” that the recordings aren’t locked away – they’re actually readily available. However, there’s a snag – it seems there are complications dealing with the artist’s estate, which is holding things up. It’s frustrating to hear that after all this time, it’s not a matter of *having* the material, but rather a legal hurdle.

“I love it,” she said. “I’m so upset that it’s not coming out on this album, like it should be.”

Mariah Carey, known as the Queen of Christmas, explained to Cohen that the song is a fresh take on a well-known hit by Michael Jackson. She shared that she often sings along to it and even contributed backing vocals. However, MJ’s estate is keeping it under wraps for a larger release, possibly in connection with his upcoming biopic scheduled for next year?

And when it does go public, Carey said, she is sure the song will be loved by everyone.

“Every time I would play it for someone, they’d be like ‘YES!’”

That wasn’t the only surprising moment from their conversation. In a segment called “Plead the Fifth”-where guests answer at least two out of three questions, with one pass allowed-Cohen playfully asked the singer if the $10-million insurance policy her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, took out on his “family jewels” was justified. Carey reacted with a sigh, seemingly asking for divine intervention.

“I’ve got to go to the next question,” she said, underscored by a giggle.

Instead, she resolved the conflict with rapper Eminem. It seems the issue began when his team contacted her – or perhaps she reached out to them? – about a role: playing Eminem’s mother in the movie 8 Mile.

“I really don’t care,” she said. Boo, talk about anticlimactic.

Carey’s 16th studio album, “Here for it All,” came out last month – her first in seven years. However, her music truly comes alive during the holidays, when her most popular song is played in stores everywhere across the country.

Shhh, you can almost hear her opening note.
