Mariah Carey announced on Monday that she will open the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.
The singer, 56, announced on Instagram that she’s planning to release an album of 90s grunge music next year.
Wearing a striking red dress and sparkling diamonds, she enthusiastically announced, ‘Hello! Prepare yourselves for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Games!’
She added a touch of Italian, saying, ‘I’ll see you at the San Siro Stadium in Milan on February 6th for the Olympic Opening Ceremony!’
She echoed the closing phrase in her caption, which translates to ‘See you in Milan.’
The official Instagram account for the Milano Cortina event posted a promotional poster and playfully referenced Mariah Carey’s hit song “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” with the caption, “All I want for THE OPENING CEREMONY is youuuuuuuu!”

This follows the successful launch of the singer’s holiday show in Las Vegas, which began at Park MGM on November 28th.
Her concert at Dolby Live’s large 5,200-seat theater is split into three parts. She’ll perform both classic holiday songs and tracks from her latest album, ‘Here For It All,’ released in September.
Though critics gave the album generally positive feedback, it sold fewer copies than any of Mariah Carey’s previous records in her three-decade-long career, and quickly left the charts after its initial release.
She typically promotes her Christmas album, “Merry Christmas,” which came out in the mid-1990s, every December.
Every year during the holidays, this popular song consistently climbs back to the top of the music charts thanks to devoted fans.
To mark the 30th anniversary of her holiday album in 2024, the singer put out a special deluxe version.
My Merry Christmas album is now available in a deluxe digital edition! I’ve lost count over the years, but I’m thrilled to be celebrating its 30th anniversary. I’m so thankful to all the fans who have enjoyed these songs during the holidays for so long,” the singer shared.
The album is out now, featuring a newly remastered version of my 1994 concert at St. John the Divine Cathedral. I hope you love it, and I’m wishing us many more happy holidays together! Merry Christmas, with love, M.

Billboard announced on Monday that Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is once again the top song in the U.S., hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Carey celebrated the occasion by sharing a photo on Instagram. She wore a sparkly red romper with white details and playfully held a fake torch.
She captioned, ‘Humbly taking back the torch!! 20 weeks at #1… I’m so grateful ❤️.’
The singer announced to her 15 million Instagram followers that her song has been certified 18x platinum by the RIAA.
The tune is the longest-running number one single in the chart’s 67-year history.
